As a seasoned gamer and ardent fan of the Alien franchise, I must confess that my heart skipped a beat when I heard about the upcoming VHS release of Alien: Romulus! Growing up in the ’80s, I vividly remember the thrill of watching Alien on our family’s ancient VCR, the flickering light from the TV screen casting eerie shadows on the walls. This throwback to those nostalgic times is a delight that only die-hard fans like me can truly appreciate.
Film Director Fede Álvarez has left fans astonished with his unveiling of a vintage VHS cassette titled “Alien: Romulus” as part of a unique edition, taking the Alien series back in time.
When is the Alien: Romulus VHS release date?
During a viewing at Beyond Fest, it was announced that Álvarez would unveil a distinctive, collector’s edition VHS tape of Romulus on December 3, 2024. This unique VHS will showcase artwork by renowned artist Matt Ferguson. Moreover, the VHS launch of Alien: Romulus coincides with the Alien series marking its 45th anniversary.
The movie “Alien: Romulus” can be streamed digitally right now, and starting from December 3, it will also be released for purchase in 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD formats.
In this movie, Álvarez took charge as both the director and executive producer, working alongside Rodo Sayagues on the script. The lead roles are filled by Isabela Merced (Sicario: Day of the Soldado), David Jonsson (Industry, Rye Lane), Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Spike Fearn (Tell Me Everything), and Aileen Wu. Ridley Scott, who originated this franchise, also contributed as a producer, along with Michael Pruss and Walter Hill.
