Chandler Riggs' new movie Breakup Season lands distribution from Buffalo8, check out the trailer

As a gamer with a penchant for apocalyptic series and a soft spot for Chandler Riggs‘ acting skills, I couldn’t help but be thrilled to hear about his upcoming projects. The news of his starring role in “Breakup Season” has me eagerly anticipating the holiday season this year!

Chandler Riggs is primarily recognized for his character as Carl Grimes in the first eight seasons of the post-apocalyptic TV show “The Walking Dead” on AMC. According to Variety, the young actor’s upcoming project, a holiday movie titled “Breakup Season,” has been acquired for distribution by Buffalo8.

2023 marked the announcement of Riggs’ involvement in the Christmas dramedy “Breakup Season,” directed by H. Nelson Tracey, a filmmaker recognized for his short films like “Conspiracy Party” and “Out of Focus.” In this indie production, Riggs will share screen time with Samantha Isler (Captain Fantastic, Molly’s Game), filmed in La Grande, Oregon. The ensemble cast also features James Urbaniak (Oppenheimer, The Fabelmans), Brook Hogan (Glow), Carly Stewart (Fragile.com), and Jacob Wysocki (Unfriended, Pitch Perfect).

As reported by Variety, the deal was arranged by Jacob Silvera, the director of distribution and acquisitions at Buffalo 8, and Stephen Mastrocola, a co-founder and producer at Static Films.

As a fan, I follow Riggs as he portrays Ben, a jobless young adult in his twenties, journeying back to his Oregon hometown for the festive season alongside my dear Cassie (played by Isler). A heated argument late at night results in our split, and Cassie yearns to head home. However, due to the secluded location, snowstorm, and holiday travel chaos, she’s unable to depart. This leaves her stuck celebrating the holidays with my family, much to her dismay.

Breakup Season is both humorous, emotional, and poignant all at once. It offers an honest portrayal of young love and heartache in one’s early twenties. Unlike traditional holiday movies, this film presents a more realistic and relatable take on themes like family and breakups.

Have a look at the trailer for Breakup Season featuring Riggs, which is set to hit select theaters across cities like Los Angeles, Tulsa, Portland, Oklahoma City and others starting November 15th. It will also be accessible via VOD nationwide from December 6th.

In addition to his role, Riggs is set to appear in the western film titled “Florida Wild“. Co-starring Lee Majors, Nancy Stafford, and Mira Sorvino, this movie is scheduled for a 2025 release. The plot unfolds in 1880 when the Prescotts, seeking a fresh start, relocate from Georgia to Florida.
