First Look at It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia & Abbott Elementary Crossover

As a fan who’s been eagerly following both “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and “Abbott Elementary,” I must say this crossover has me jumping with joy! The idea of these two Philly-centric shows colliding is like a delicious cheesesteak with all the fixings – it’s just too good to resist!

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m pumped to share my first glimpse at the upcoming episodes of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Abbott Elementary! Thanks to none other than the mastermind himself, Rob McElhenney, for this exclusive sneak peek.

McElhenney posted on social media a fresh snapshot of both casts, all huddled within the famous Abbott Elementary school. The Abbott Elementary gang looks cheerful and thrilled, while the It’s Always Sunny crew appears perplexed and displeased by the circumstances.

As an enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the cast of It’s Always Sunny will grace our screens in episode 409 of Abbott Elementary! Unfortunately, there’s no confirmed air date at the moment. However, this series has occasionally taken a week or two off between episodes in the past, so we can only guess when the magical crossover will unfold. Stay tuned!

What do we know about the It’s Always Sunny and Abbott Elementary crossover?

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Quinta Brunson, the star of Abbott Elementary, shared that the idea of a crossover episode with Always Sunny seemed incredibly fitting right from the start.

Rob McElhenney was shown something online that someone shared with him, suggesting it could be humorous for an It’s Always Sunny episode. He responded by saying it would be a fantastic Abbott episode. This sparked conversation between them. The episode isn’t related to what he saw online, but it did initiate discussion, and honestly, she likes Rob. They seem to connect well because, like her, he is a writer, creator of a show, loves comedy, and is from Philadelphia. They hit it off immediately and started discussing in depth about the possibility, realizing they could collaborate effectively. Since they are both under the Disney umbrella, they thought they could make this project a reality.

In simpler terms, “They belong to a part of South Philly, while we come from West Philly, but their meeting wasn’t far-fetched because it felt natural right away. When the opportunity came easily to us, we knew we had to go for it. So, at the beginning of this Abbott season, we began setting things in motion since Sunny was just starting to write their season. Charlie and Rob joined our team one day, they were fantastic collaborators. I can’t praise them enough. We’ve been having a great time on set, they’re a pleasure to work with. They bring fresh energy to our world, and we do the same for theirs. It’s been a delight to collaborate with them. Most importantly, Rob, Charlie, and their team share our love for comedy, and we all aim to create exciting things in the comedy genre. Working with like-minded people is just amazing.
