Walking Dead's Noah Emmerich cast in legal thriller The Up and Comer

As a seasoned gamer who’s seen his fair share of characters come and go, I can confidently say that Noah Emmerich is one actor whose performances consistently leave me captivated. From his chilling portrayal of Dr. Jenner in The Walking Dead to his riveting roles in Dark Winds, Space Force, and The Good Nurse, Emmerich has proven time and again that he’s a force to be reckoned with.

Actor Noah Emmerich played Dr. Jenner on “The Walking Dead” back in 2010, appearing in just two episodes during season 1. He significantly impacted the storyline when he told Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) that everyone was infected. Since then, Emmerich has taken on roles in various other productions such as “Dark Winds,” “The Big Cigar,” and a Netflix original movie titled “The Good Nurse.” According to Deadline, Emmerich will soon be starring in “The Up and Comer.

As a dedicated fan, I’m excited to share that I’ve been eagerly anticipating this movie adaptation of Howard Roughan’s acclaimed New York Times bestselling legal thriller. Notably, the screenplay was penned by none other than its author himself! The film is skillfully directed by Chris Long, a seasoned professional known for his work on “The Patient,” “Suspicion,” and “The Americans,” among others. Alongside Long, Jeremy Alter, Roughan, and Gary B. Goldman serve as producers. Sheila Jaffe and Bryan Riley take charge of the casting process.

Filming has started in Chicago for the movie, and as previously announced, actors like Nate Mann (Masters of the Air), Shay Mitchell (Pretty Little Liars), and Tony Award winner Andrew Burnap (The Inheritance) are part of the cast. Additionally, it was recently confirmed that Rebecca De Mornay (Risky Business, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle), Kunal Nayyar (The Big Bang Theory), and Sarah Bolger (Control) will also join the team.

The narrative centers around Philip Randall (played by Mann), who seems to have a picture-perfect life with the potential to become his company’s youngest partner. However, trouble brews when an old classmate (Burnap) hints at revealing a past incident involving another woman (Mitchell). As Philip is pushed into taking dangerous risks, events spiral out of control, leading to blackmail, homicide, vengeance, and the most daunting challenge of all – victory.

What else does Noah Emmerich star in?

In the initial season of AMC’s gripping mystery series “Dark Winds,” which adapts Tony Hillerman’s book series “Leaphorn & Chee,” our main character Emmerich appeared. Set in the 1970s, this first season debuted in 2022 and revolves around Navajo law enforcement officials, Leaphorn (played by Zhan McClarnon) and Chee (Kiowa Gordon). After probing into a murder case, they start to doubt their religious convictions. The series has subsequently disclosed two more seasons following its release.

2022 saw Emmerich sharing screen time with Jessica Chastain and Eddie Redmayne in the Netflix thriller, “The Good Nurse.” This film is an adaptation from Charles Graeber’s real-life crime novel, centering around a serial killer named Charles Cullan and the nurse who uncovers his criminal acts.

I’m quite fond of acknowledging Emmerich’s versatility, especially his roles in “Beautiful Girls” (1996), “The Truman Show” (1998), “Frequency” (2000), “Miracle” (2004), “Little Children” (2006), and “Super 8” (2011). In the year 2019, his exceptional performance as FBI Agent Stan Beeman in the FX series “The Americans” earned him a Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

In the hit comedy series “Space Force,” produced by Greg Daniels and Steve Carell, who also acts in it, he frequently appeared. This show revolves around a team tasked with establishing a new division for the United States Armed Forces – the Space Force.
