Who is in the Karate Kid: Legends poster?
The promotional poster showcases Ben Wang, the latest actor chosen for the Karate Kid franchise, which is based on American Born Chinese. Previous main characters in the series were portrayed by Ralph Macchio, Hilary Swank, and Jaden Smith. Alongside Wang in the poster are Macchio and Jackie Chan, both of whom will reprise their roles from the original trilogy as Daniel LaRusso and Mr. Han, respectively, from the 2010 remake.
As a passionate fan, I’m thrilled to share that the upcoming Karate Kid movie from Sony is being directed by Jonathan Entwistle, known for his work on The End of the F***ing World. The screenplay is penned by Rob Lieber. Karen Rosenfelt is producing this project. The story is said to be set on the East Coast and revolves around a teenage character from China. Newcomers Ben Wang, Joshua Jackson, Ming-Na Wen, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Sadie Stanley, Aramis Knight, Wyatt Oleff, and Jennifer-Lyn Christie are joining the cast. Macchio and Jenny Hinkey are serving as executive producers for this exciting project.
Originating from Robert Mark Kamen, the renowned series kicked off with the 1984 movie The Karate Kid, featuring Pat Morita’s unforgettable portrayal of Mr. Miyagi, which garnered him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. The film’s popularity and acclaim led to two more sequels featuring Ralph Macchio as Daniel Larusso, along with a 1994 spin-off titled The Next Karate Kid, starring Hilary Swank as Julie. In 2010, Harald Zwart helmed a separate Karate Kid sequel set in China, featuring Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith in lead roles. As of now, the series has amassed over $675 million at the global box office across all its films.
