Chicago PD’s Jason Beghe Addresses ASA Chapman’s Romantic Confession

As a long-time fan of Chicago PD, I’ve seen many twists and turns throughout the years, but none quite as intriguing as the potential blossoming romance between Sergeant Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) and ASA Nina Chapman (Sara Bues). The way Voight was left stunned by Chapman’s confession of her feelings adds a new layer to his character that I’ve not seen before.

There could potentially be a blossoming romance between Sergeant Hank Voight of Chicago PD, played by Jason Beghe, and ASA Nina Chapman (Sara Bues). It seems that Nina’s romantic feelings towards the tough-as-nails 21st District Intelligence Unit commander took him by surprise. Recently, Beghe shared insights about this confession and its impact on his character.

Jason Beghe says Voight and Chapman’s relationship on Chicago PD should evolve ‘naturally’

In the last moments of Season 12’s Episode 4 of Chicago PD, ASA Chapman laid bare her feelings for me, leaving me reeling. As actor Jon Seda (Voight) put it to NBC Insider, this confession “shocked” me. I had a few minutes where I was trying to wrap my head around it all, but honestly, I don’t think I’ve fully processed it yet. It’s a lot to take in, you know? And it’s a compliment – she cares for me, which is unexpected and heartfelt. Yet, it’s complicated because I value her and respect women immensely, so I’m treading carefully… So for now, I’ve just shut that part of myself off to focus on the job at hand.

In a possible turn of events, this plot progression might introduce an engaging side-storyline for Voight. Yet, as actor Jason Beghe shared, he prefers to stay present in the story and let things unfold organically rather than worrying about future developments. As he put it, “I don’t like to speculate where this is heading. I prefer to be fully engaged in the current moment and then move on to the next one, allowing events to shift and grow naturally.” He added, “If a kiss happens between us, it will be because it feels genuine – you understand?

In addition to pondering, Beghe contemplated if Voight might consider whether there could be a future for him and ASA Chapman within Chicago PD. “He’s perceptive,” he noted. “One aspect I appreciate about Hank is… I believe he appears complex because he’s actually quite straightforward. He simply wonders, ‘Will it develop?’ He isn’t the type to ponder, ‘Where could this lead?’

As a dedicated fan, I eagerly anticipated the premiere of Chicago PD’s 12th season on good old NBC on September 25, 2024. Now, every Wednesday, I tune in to catch my weekly dose of this gripping series!
