As a seasoned Guardian with countless hours spent battling through the crucible and exploring the vast cosmos of Destiny 2, I can confidently say that the VS Velocity Baton is a welcome addition to my arsenal! This Void Grenade Launcher, dropped from the new Vesper’s Host dungeon, is an absolute game-changer for both PvE and PvP.
The Velocity Baton, a freshly introduced Void Grenade Launcher, can be obtained from the new Vesper’s Host dungeon in Destiny 2. Functioning as an Area Denial Frame, it’s perfect for inflicting continuous damage on enemies or creating some space for you. Since this grenade launcher is Void-based, it follows that it employs the classic combination we’re familiar with in our other Void weapons.
VS Velocity Baton god roll – PvE
I can’t seem to get my fill of the distinctive Void perk duo offered by Velocity Baton, and I yearn for a variety of Void weapons that carry this same combination. It’s not until I possess each weapon type with this specific pairing that I’ll even consider exploring other perks.
VS Velocity Baton god roll – PvE | |
---|---|
Barrel | Quick Launch (Velocity +10, Handling +15) |
Magazine | High-Velocity Rounds (Velocity +10, Reload Speed +10) |
Perk 1 | Repulsor Brace (Defeating a Void-debuffed target grants an overshield) |
Perk 2 | Destabilizing Rounds (Final blows cause nearby targets to become volatile) |
Origin Trait | Bray Legacy (Damage with this weapon generates a small amount of ability energy for the one closest to a full charge) |
Masterwork | Reload Speed |
Mod | Synergy (Final blows with this weapon have a chance to create an elemental pickup matching its damage type, or an Orb of Power for weapons that deal Kinetic damage) |
Let’s get straight to the good stuff: Repulsor Brace and Destabilizing Rounds. These two are made for each other, like chocolate and peanut butter, which is why they’re on every single new Void weapon. I’m of the opinion that you’ll want this roll on each Void weapon so you can cover all of your bases regardless of the weapon archetype you want to use.
If you end up with this roll or choose not to keep it, there are a few other options you might find interesting. The first column includes Unyielding and Demolitionist, both of which have their own merits. If you’re considering this as your boss DPS option, Bait and Switch could be a good choice. Alternatively, if you need another Orb generation option, Attrition Orbs might suit your needs better.
Instead of considering all the additional benefits, prioritize what resonates with you personally. These extras significantly boost velocity, enhance reload speed, and improve handling. Adding Synergy will make those Void Breaches more enjoyable.
VS Velocity Baton god roll – PvP
For those playing Crucible, they have a plethora of Grenade Launcher options for PvP encounters. However, the VS Velocity Baton god roll could potentially provide an alternative experience.
VS Velocity Baton god roll – PvP | |
---|---|
Barrel | Hard Launch (Stability -10, Velocity +15, Blast Radius -5) |
Magazine | High-Velocity Rounds (Velocity +10, Reload Speed +10) |
Perk 1 | Demolitionist (Kills with this weapon generate grenade energy. Activating your grenade ability reloads this weapon from reserves) |
Perk 2 | Harmony (Final blows with other weapons improve this weapon’s damage and performance for a short duration) |
Origin Trait | Bray Legacy (Damage with this weapon generates a small amount of ability energy for the one closest to a full charge) |
Masterwork | Velocity |
Mod | Icarus Grip (Airborne Effectiveness +15) |
Initially, make full use of the benefits available to boost your speed stat as much as possible, so your enemy doesn’t evade your scarce shots. Employing Hard Launch might cause damage, but it’s a worthwhile trade-off for securing the kill. Furthermore, since you’re shooting straight, sacrificing stability and blast radius isn’t a significant setback in this situation.
Choosing Demolitionist in the Crucible is a good option due to its skill of replenishing your Grenade energy. With more Grenades at your disposal, you’ll be able to inflict more defeats on your enemies. To amplify this effect, consider adding Harmony as well. This upgrade will not only increase the power of your Grenades but also take your adversaries by surprise.
Instead of the Velocity Baton Grenade Launcher, which boasts the innovative Area Denial Frame, discovering its optimal build (or “god roll”) will expand your playstyle beyond the Lost Signal. For more weapon suggestions in Destiny 2, refer to our comprehensive strategy guide.
