As a longtime fan of Chicago Fire and someone who has spent years serving in the military, I found this week’s episode to be a rollercoaster of emotions. The Violet storyline was particularly gripping for me, as it reminded me of the decisions we sometimes have to make in the heat of battle.
In the fourth episode of season 13 on Chicago Fire, Violet faces a critical moment on a call that could jeopardize her career. Here’s how the episode unfolds.

From the preview of Chicago Fire’s season 13, episode 4, it was clear that Violet’s employment was at risk. Now, we get to uncover the details of the other plot lines. Boy, there were a lot of events unfolding in this latest installment!
What happened to Violet in Chicago Fire season 13, episode 4?
In a desperate situation as a gamer, I found myself in a role where I had to perform an operation beyond my expertise. Yet, with no other option available, I knew I had to act quickly. The patient was deceased, yet there was a glimmer of hope – she was eight months pregnant. If I didn’t perform a C-section right away, the baby would be lost. Fortunately, the patient’s sister was present and gave her consent for the emergency surgery to save the unborn child.
Unfortunately, it didn’t follow proper procedure. As a result, Violet lost her license and it seemed extremely difficult for her to get it back. Pascal stepped in, suggesting that Violet should approach someone who could assist. Initially, Violet sought help from the Chief at Chicago Med, but what she really needed was someone with governmental influence. Who could that person be?
Pascal apologized to the man he had struck, which ultimately led to the city congressman attending Violet’s hearing. The appearance of his sister and baby at the scene also proved beneficial. As a result, Violet managed to retain her job.
Throughout this entire narrative, Violet expresses her frustration towards Tori quite forcefully. To put it bluntly, Tori has been causing trouble, and I’m not opposed to seeing her leave. In all honesty, Violet’s outburst was warranted given Tori’s behavior, and I can’t fathom why others were trying to prevent Violet from expressing herself. It seems that you only ask someone to share their personal struggles if you have experienced similar hardships yourself. There exists an unspoken bond between firefighters, paramedics, and even military veterans; a bond that Tori clearly breached when she continued talking. Carver should have silenced Tori at that point.
I wish Violet would have said something to Carver about what Tori has been doing to his messages. Carver needs to know who he has in his life. Sure, Carver may not believe Violet at first, and I’ve been on the side of telling someone their girlfriend is messing with them. I just believe that people deserve to have the information so they can deal with it themselves. It puts the ball back in their court. This is now just going to create more drama, which is great for the show, but it’s annoying after a while.
Herrmann found a way to help Kidd
Kidd had to find someone else to take Damon’s spot on Truck 81 since Kylie, who is affectionately known as “MK” or Mini Kidd, was unwilling to join the team due to her commitment to Firehouse 51. She wanted to establish her own identity rather than being associated with Kidd. This left Kidd in a predicament as she had to find an alternative solution for filling the vacancy.
Indeed, Herrmann assisted by observing that Ritter could shift to Truck 81. This action would enable him to transport Kylie to Truck 81 instead.
Mouch emphasized that one reason Herrmann excels as a Battalion Chief is his ability to solve problems that others may struggle with. He doesn’t abandon people in difficult situations but instead finds ways to improve them. I’m eager to see Kylie return to 51, her rightful place.
1) It’s widely understood that Ritter will excel in the Truck department, but Herrmann’s proposal was significant. In fact, it was Herrmann who facilitated Ritter’s employment at the CFD, making him an influential figure for Ritter to admire and follow.
It appears that the Damon predicament has been resolved swiftly in the series, as Severide found another firehouse where he was accepted permanently. He urged Damon to cease evading his connection with Severide and instead, create a legacy of his own. Is this truly the end for Damon? That doesn’t seem fair…
Cruz looks for Javi’s bike in Chicago Fire season 13, episode 4
Meanwhile, as all these events unfold, Cruz, Tony, and Capp are on a quest to locate Javi’s bicycle. This comical subplot culminates with Cruz appearing rather foolish. In a turn of unfortunate events, he ends up stealing a bike from a youngster, only to find himself footing the bill for his mistake.
Look, I know we need humorous storylines and I loved seeing Javi again at the end, but I think this storyline could have been a bit stronger. I didn’t care about it at all, and I think part of that is because it was so stereotypical and easy to guess.
I loved Violet’s story this episode. Seeing her make a decision to save a life that went against protocol was so Gabi, and I’ve missed that about the series. Having Novak stand up for Violet and then thank Pascal was also great, along with then Pascal doing the right thing. Is this a turning point for Pascal? I’m starting to think so, but I’m ready to see Herrmann get a boost in his career.
