This film revolves around the challenging journey of two teenage step-siblings trying to find their way in life, all while being raised under a strict and repressed religious household.

When is the Hippo release date?

Hippo is set to premiere in selected cinemas on November 12, 2024. This film features Kimball Farley (from Ghost Hunt) playing Hippo, Lilla Kizlinger (of Explanation for Everuir) as Buttercup, Eliza Roberts (National Lampoon’s Animal House) as Ethel, Jesse Pimentel (In the Moment) as Darwin, and Vann Barrett as Dr. Lombardi. Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight) will serve as the story’s narrator.

The movie is directed by Mark H. Rapaport, who collaborated on the screenplay with Farley. The executive producers are David Gordon Green, Danny McBride, Jody Hill, Brandon James, Charmaine Kowalski, and Julian Lawitschka. Meanwhile, Rapaport, Anthony Argento, and Siyu Lin take on the roles of producers.

“The story follows two step-siblings – Hippo, a teenage video game enthusiast, and Buttercup, an immigrant from Hungary who adores classical music and Jesus. Similar to the ancient Greek goddess Aphrodite, Buttercup’s love is not reciprocated by her brother who prefers warfare and chaos. This sets off a hormone-charged, comical yet tragic tale that is as bizarre as it is captivating.
