As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I can confidently say that Astro Bot has been one of the most exhilarating and engaging experiences I’ve had in recent years. The game, with its immersive world and charming characters, has already proven to be a delightful journey. Now, Team Asobi is taking it up a notch with the introduction of speedrun levels!
This week, Team Asobi is all set to deliver some post-launch content to Astro Bot enthusiasts. They’ve unveiled the initial speedrun levels, with a total of five such levels scheduled for the game, along with other free DLC. The first one will be available this week, and the remaining four will follow on a weekly basis, concluding by the end of October and extending into November.
Astro Bot’s speedrun levels schedule, provided by Team Asobi, was shared on the PlayStation Blog. The rollout begins with the Building Speed level on October 17, 2024, followed by a new level each Thursday, weekly, until all five are available. Each level introduces two fresh Bots for players to save and chase after, along with ample obstacles to conquer if one aims for a top spot on the online leaderboard.
The schedule and names of Astro Bot speedrun levels are as follows:
- Oct 17: Building Speed
- Oct 24: Let it Slide
- Oct 31: Spring-loaded Run
- Nov 7: Helium Heights
- Nov 14: Rising Heat
Absolutely, climbing to the top of the leaderboard is certainly achievable, but even conquering certain stages should provide an engaging test. The level “Building Speed” resembles a skyscraper and appears to include numerous hurdles and quirks. The other levels are expected to offer similar difficulties. While Astro Bot wasn’t overly challenging in its primary course, some of its special stages significantly increased the difficulty, putting our reflexes to the test – a factor that contributed to its impressive Shacknews review score.
Get ready for the debut of the first speedrunning level in Astro Bot tomorrow! In the upcoming weeks, keep an eye out for additional levels as they become available.
