CoD Black Ops 6: Is the Vault Edition worth it?

CoD Black Ops 6: Is the Vault Edition worth it?

As a longtime Call of Duty enthusiast who has weathered countless game launches and seasons, I must say that the Vault Edition for Black Ops 6 is definitely worth considering if you’re all-in for this title. The operator and weapon skins are a treat, especially given the tamer offerings in previous years. And let’s not forget about the GobbleGums, which add a touch of whimsy to the Zombies mode that I always enjoy.

It appears that Black Ops 6 is shaping up to be a solid Call of Duty game (we found the beta quite enjoyable), offering a refreshing experience for dedicated players who’ve been playing Modern Warfare non-stop for two consecutive years. Treyarch has had three full years to develop, and they almost never disappoint.

If you’re set on purchasing Battlefield 6 (BO6), the question arises: Is it worth going for the Vault Edition instead? Keep in mind that it comes at an additional cost of $30, which could be used for a different game altogether. To make an informed decision, here’s what you can expect from the Vault Edition.

What do you get with the BO6 Vault Edition?

You get four operator skins, five weapon skins, 12 single-use power ups for Zombies called “GobbleGums”, and the BlackCell version of the Season 1 Battle Pass (which will begin about two weeks after the BO6 launch). You can check these bonuses out in greater depth below.

Hunters vs. Hunted Operator Pack

With the Hunters vs. Hunted Operator Pack, you’ll receive two distinct skins for the dual multiplayer factions within the game – Crimson One and Rogue Black Ops. If you haven’t played Call of Duty in some time, your character will be assigned to a faction in each multiplayer session automatically.

The skins for this Vault Edition are fantastic, and they really outshine those from past years, which were quite mild. In general, the skins at launch tend to be rather dull, but they improve significantly as the game progresses.

Mastercraft Weapon Collection

The Vault Edition additionally offers five high-end “Mastercraft” weapon finishes, these being the most lavish skins accessible within Call of Duty. While all other skins are quite appealing, the knife skin is somewhat underwhelming compared to typical melee skins found in CoD.

The problem with these weapon skins is that we really can’t tell you how valuable they are because we don’t yet know whether these will be meta weapons. Some of these weapons might be really strong and worth using throughout the game’s entire life-cycle, or perhaps they will all be trash, and never worth using. It’s impossible to tell ahead of the game’s launch.

The GobbleGum Pack

In the world of Zombies, GobbleGums are unique power-ups that players can consume. First introduced in Black Ops 3 and reappearing in Black Ops 6, these sweet treats offer special abilities or effects to the players, helping them in their gaming experience.

In the game, you can earn GobbleGums which come with a variety of abilities, such as boosting player skills or offering strange, unpredictable advantages. With The Vault Edition, you’ll receive 12 GobbleGums to make your initial Zombies gaming experience smoother.

BlackCell Battle Pass for BO6 Season 1

The BlackCell Battle Pass is essentially an upgraded version of the regular Battle Pass we receive every new season in Call of Duty, which typically retails for $30. In this instance, the Vault Edition includes the Black Cell adaptation of the Battle Pass that will be available during Black Ops 6’s first season, scheduled to start a few weeks post-launch. It offers the following:

  • The normal Battle Pass, with over 100 rewards.
  • 1,100 COD Points unlocked instantly (which are separate to those you can also earn by completing the Battle Pass).
  • 20 Battle Pass Tier Skips.
  • Instantly unlocked BlackCell-exclusive content.
  • Special BlackCell variants of Battle Pass Operator Skins, Weapon Blueprints, and more.

As a gamer, I’ve noticed that when I unlock skins from the Battle Pass, the BlackCell variants often sport a sleek black and gold design.

Is the Vault Edition worth it?

Based on your playtime with Call of Duty and available budget, but considering the last five games (Modern Warfare III, Modern Warfare II, Vanguard, Black Ops Cold War, and Modern Warfare), we believe you’re receiving a greater value than typical for the ultimate edition of a CoD game.

If you enjoy the operator and weapon skins included in the Vault Edition and anticipate playing enough during Season 1 to complete the Battle Pass, we believe purchasing the Vault Edition could be a good value for you. This is because the BlackCell Battle Pass alone typically costs $30, but with the Vault Edition, you receive this along with additional items.

After learning about all its advantages, here’s my take: Is it justified that the Vault Edition costs 40% more than the regular version?
