As a long-time fan of Asmongold, I must admit that this recent debacle has left me quite disheartened. While I appreciate his passion for gaming and his willingness to delve into broader topics, I cannot condone the offensive comments he made about Palestine.
Known as Asmongold, this individual has amassed a significant fanbase on Twitch, primarily through streaming and producing content related to games like World of Warcraft and various MMORPGs (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games).
Primarily known for live-streaming games, Asmongold frequently explores diverse subjects beyond gaming, such as social concerns and current events. Lately, he has been delving into political debates, a trend that’s been increasing on his streams, with the previous week being no exception.
Asmongold: “I don’t give a f***. They’re terrible people”
In October 2023, Asmongold shared that managing two Twitch channels – his primary one, “Asmongold,” and a secondary account, “Zackrawrr” – had become quite demanding for him. To alleviate the pressure, he decided to make his main channel more relaxed by streaming less intensely, while continuing to engage in more casual sessions on Zackrawrr.
In a secondary instance, Zackrawrr started discussing Palestinians with his crowd. He made several controversial statements regarding Palestine, leading to a ban on Twitch. Regrettably, the original stream recording (VOD) has been removed, but the entire outburst was recorded, clipped, and shared across social media platforms.
He told his audience that he wasn’t going “to cry a f***ing river” over people from an “inferior culture” who have “genocide baked into their laws”. He went on to describe Palestinians as “not the same as us” in his rant:
If you wanna consider a genocide as a systematic killing of a group of people, they have genocide built into Sharia law right now. So no, I’m not going to cry a f***ing river when people who have genocide that’s baked into their laws are getting genocided. I don’t give a f***. They’re terrible people. It’s not even a question. It’s crazy that people don’t see it that way. They’d be doing the same thing.
These people are not your allies. They are not the same as us. They come from an inferior culture that is horrible. It kills people for their identity, and it is directly antithetical to everything western values stand for. And it is an inferior culture in all ways. It is that simple. No, I don’t feel bad for them. I don’t feel sorry for them. I don’t care. I don’t support them.
A significant number of people expressed their anger on social media, trying to end his career. However, it seems that those who support him are few compared to his critics.
@CapriSunnPapi clipped a segment of said rant and replied, asking Asmongold:
“What about my ‘culture’ makes it okay to genocide my friends/family?”

Besides the viewers, Twitch also deemed it necessary and enforced a ban on the streamer for violating community standards. These guidelines disapprove of actions driven by hatred, prejudice, or intolerance, specifically those that encourage or suggest discrimination, belittlement, harassment, or violence.
Asmongold later tweeted an apology:

This apology largely fell on deaf ears, however, with many demanding that he properly say, “I’m sorry”.
Others noted the hypocrisy of the streamer, who last year tweeted:
Weird as f*** to see so many people coming out with statements about the Israel/Palestine conflict as if they need to comment on it. Can we please stop this weird culture around expecting people with no relevant background or education to talk about world events/politics.
It remains uncertain why an individual without a related background or formal education such as Asmongold might express opinions on the Israel/Palestine issue, given that he seems to have little to benefit from it and potentially much to risk.
