Ballerina Reshoots Rumored to Have Delayed Henry Cavill’s Highlander

As a seasoned movie enthusiast with a knack for following the behind-the-scenes drama, I must say, the saga of Ballerina and its impact on Highlander has been quite the rollercoaster ride! The reshoots and delays have been as unpredictable as a Keanu Reeves’ action scene.

The upcoming spin-off of John Wick titled Ballerina, featuring Ana De Armas, has encountered multiple production hurdles before its debut. Already, the movie has necessitated significant reshoots, leading to a postponement of its release by an entire year. Interestingly, these filming problems and subsequent reshoots for Ballerina have also allegedly caused delays in the production of Highlander, another film, starring Henry Cavill.

Ballerina reshoots delayed work on Highlander by five months, claims report

As a devoted fan, I’ve learned that the progress on Highlander took an unexpected five-month detour, all thanks to additional ballerina scenes being filmed.

The information originates from a reliable source and initially appeared on TheWrap. According to this source, the decision for additional filming on Ballerina was made due to concerns over the quality of the original cut directed by Len Wiseman. As a result, Chad Stahelski, known for directing all four films in the John Wick series, has been tasked with reshooting most of the completed movie.

The majority of reshoots were carried out in Prague over a period of around two to three months, according to an inside source. This extended production time reportedly led to a delay of five months for Henry Cavill’s film Highlander, which is also directed by Stahelski. As the insider put it, “Chad will be working on Highlander, but the need to finish Ballerina has definitely pushed him back by at least five months.

The unidentified informant mentioned that Chad’s schedule faced potential disruption as a result of rectifying another person’s error. To put it simply, Chad found himself having to tidy up someone else’s mess, given that this movie is essentially John Wick 3.5.

In light of the postponement of Highlander, Henry Cavill has chosen to appear in Amazon MGM’s Voltron instead. Production for this project is expected to start towards the end of this year. However, it’s been reported by The Wrap that development on the Highlander script continues as planned.

Together with Ana De Armas, the highly anticipated film titled “Ballerina” also stars Norman Reedus, Ian McShane, and Lance Reddick, along with several other talented actors. This movie is set to premiere in theaters on June 6, 2025.
