As a dedicated fan of culinary delights and reality competitions, I am absolutely thrilled about the renewal of Netflix’s “Culinary Class Wars” for Season 2! Having followed the exciting journey of chefs from around the world in Season 1, I can’t wait to see who will rise to the top in this fierce cooking showdown.
Netflix has confirmed that the second season of their latest South Korean cooking reality competition series, titled “Battle of Culinary Kingdoms“, will be returning. The announcement follows the conclusion of season 1 about a week ago.
For over three weeks straight now, this new series has been dominating as one of the top non-English programs streaming globally, claiming the number one position on the Global Top 10 Non-English TV Shows ranking since its premiere a month ago.
What did Netflix say about the Culinary Class Wars Season 2 renewal?
Netflix Korea’s content director, Yoo Ki-hwan, expressed joy in revealing that Culinary Class Wars Season 2 is being made, due to the overwhelming fan support not only in Korea but also globally,” (as reported by Tudum).
“Bringing a show of this scale to life requires immense effort, and we’re deeply grateful for the love and enthusiasm we’ve received so far. As we continue to expand our unscripted offerings, we look forward to bringing even more distinctive and exciting shows to our audience in the near future.”
Titled “Culinary Class Wars,” this series was developed by Kim Eun-ji and Kim Hak-min. Renowned celebrity chef and restaurateur Paik Jong-won, along with Korea’s sole Michelin three-star chef Anh Sung-Jae, serve as the judges. The show brings together 100 skilled chefs, ranging from restaurant owners to Michelin star chefs, who engage in a high-stakes cooking competition. The participants are separated into two groups: “Black Spoons,” consisting of 80 underdog cooks, and the “White Spoons,” an elite group of 20 chosen chefs. Notable contestants include Edward Lee, winner of Iron Chef: America; Fabrizio Ferrari, a Michelin star Italian chef; Choi Kang-rok, the winner of MasterChef Korea; TV personality Choi Hyun-seok; Chinese cuisine master Chef Lu Chinglai, and many more.
