What is The Monkey about?

In the movie titled “The Monkey”, twin brothers Hal and Bill stumble upon their father’s old toy monkey in the attic, which seems to trigger a sequence of terrifying deaths among those around them. After deciding to get rid of the monkey and move on with their lives, the twins grow apart over time. However, when the eerie deaths resurface, Hal and Bill are forced to reconnect in order to put an end to the monkey’s destructive influence once and for all, before it claims the lives of their loved ones. Further casting is currently being arranged.

In addition to the Monkey, Colin O’Brien, Rohan Campbell, and Sarah Levy are part of the cast. The script for this film was penned by Perkins, while James Wan is a producer, along with Michael Clear, Jason Cloth, and Dave Caplan. Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Fred Berger, Chris Ferguson, Peter Luo, Nancy Xu, and John Friedberg also serve as executive producers for this project.

Stephen King is the founding father of horror literature, significantly shaping my interests as a kid and throughout my professional journey. It’s long been an ambition of mine to adapt one of his works, and I find ‘The Monkey’ particularly intriguing with its straightforward, memorable, and highly marketable premise. I believe no one could be more suited than the imaginative and dedicated genre enthusiast, Osgood, to bring this story to fruition.

Beyond my anticipated role in the 2024 movie Longlegs alongside Nicolas Cage, you’ll find a wealth of chilling tales in my filmography. These include The Blackcoat’s Daughter from 2015, I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House in 2016, and Gretel & Hansel, which hit screens in 2020.

The Monkey will be released in United States theaters on February 21, 2025, from Neon.
