As a die-hard fan of the Conjuring series, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia as The Conjuring: Last Rites begins filming. Having grown up with Ed and Lorraine Warren, played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, I can’t imagine this era of horror coming to an end. It’s like saying goodbye to old friends after a haunted Halloween night.
Filming for “The Conjuring: Last Rites” has now started. As we move forward with the fourth and last installment of the series, its creator, James Wan, shared a picture of chairs labeled ‘Ed’ and ‘Lorraine Warren’ on Instagram to mark the special moment.
It’s always great catching up with longtime buddies, I’ll surely miss them all. This marks the end of a memorable time.” (Wan posted this in the caption)

Who is Involved in The Conjuring: Last Rites?
In the new installment, Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga once again take on the characters of Ed and Lorraine Warren, the ghost-hunting duo and authors. Ben Hardy and Mia Tomlinson will be joining the cast, although their specific roles have not been revealed yet.
Michael Chaves, the director of “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It,” is set to helm the next installment in the series titled “The Conjuring: Last Rites.” Previously, Chaves directed two other films within the “Conjuring” universe: “The Curse of La Llorona” and “The Nun II.
As a diehard fan here, I’d like to share that David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, who penned the scripts for the last two Conjuring movies, teamed up with Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing to write this new screenplay. Interestingly, Johnson-McGoldrick and James Wan were the minds behind crafting the storyline for Last Rites. Wan, along with Peter Safran, will be producing this upcoming project. As for the plot details, they’re being kept under lock and key. However, I find it fascinating that The Conjuring series draws inspiration from genuine cases handled by the Warrens.
The film “Last Rites” is the fourth movie in the series known as “The Conjuring.” Preceding it are “The Conjuring,” “The Conjuring 2,” and “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.” This franchise has produced numerous spin-offs, such as “Annabelle,” “Annabelle: Creation,” “The Nun,” “Annabelle Comes Home,” and “The Nun II.” The success of the Conjuring franchise at the box office is largely due to a total gross of over $2.2 billion.
Back in April 2023, it was revealed that a television series based on The Conjuring franchise was set to premiere on Max. This new series would delve deeper into the eerie supernatural tales that were initially presented in the movies.
The Conjuring: Last Rites is scheduled to be released in theaters on September 5, 2025.
