Bird Trailer Previews Barry Keoghan Coming-of-Age Movie

As a cinephile with a penchant for poignant coming-of-age stories and a soft spot for the underdog, I am utterly intrigued by the trailer for “Bird.” Andrea Arnold, a director whose work I’ve admired since my days of trawling through independent films at local screenings, never fails to deliver a powerful narrative.

Movie streaming platform MUBI has revealed the preview for the forthcoming maturation drama titled “Bird,” penned and helmed by Academy Award laureate Andrea Arnold.

Arnold’s newest movie is titled “Bird,” following his success with films such as American Honey, Cow, Fish Tank, Wuthering Heights, and Red Road. This upcoming dramatic film features Barry Keoghan (known for Saltburn and The Banshees of Inisherin), Franz Rogowski (from Passages and Great Freedom), and debutant Nykiya Adams.

What happens in the Bird trailer?

The Bird trailer introduces the movie’s 12-year-old lead character, Bailey (Adams), dealing with her situation living with a tumultuous father named Bug (Keoghan), who does not seem like a good father figure. She then meets a nomad named Bird (Rogowski), who would help her gain a different outlook on life.

The movie titled “Bird” is scheduled for release in the US, Canada, UK, and Ireland on November 8, 2024. Here’s a sneak peek at the trailer for “Bird”. Enjoy more trailers! (Watch the trailers)

According to the summary (from TIFF), Bird revolves around an absentee father and his creative, longing-for-attention 12-year-old daughter, Bailey, who finds entertainment and excitement beyond their immediate environment.

In response, it stated, “When Bug tells her that he’s about to marry his new partner, Bailey feels both angry and wounded, wondering what will happen to her. Her mother lives with an abusive man, and while Bug deeply loves his daughter, he can sometimes be unaware of a young girl’s growing needs.

Additionally, we have Jason Buda playing the role of Hunter, Jasmine Jobson known for her work in Top Boy portraying Peyton, James Nelson-Joyce from Little Boy Blue taking on Skate, Frankie Box as Kailey, Joanne Matthews joining us as Debs, and Sarah Beth Harber completing our cast.

This year at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, the movie debuted. At present, it boasts a 75% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

Bird will hit theaters on November 8.
