This stunning artwork embodies the enthusiasm and joy Taylor brought to her German fans during her electrifying performance back in July, symbolizing our shared love and appreciation for her music and influence.

So, where exactly is this iconic mural, and who created it? Here is everything you need to know.

Where is Taylor Swift’s mural?

Taylor Swift’s mural is located in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.

Situated right in the heart of the Ruhr district, Gelsenkirchen boasts a robust industrial past and is renowned for its soccer team, FC Schalke 04. Originally formed by merging with neighboring cities Buer and Gelsenkirchen-Horst in 1928, it was initially known as Gelsenkirchen-Buer. However, this name didn’t last long, and the city changed its moniker to simply Gelsenkirchen in 1930. During the Nazi era, it served as a significant center for coal mining and oil refining.

In a span of three days, from July 17 to July 19, Taylor Swift performed three concerts in the city of Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Following these performances, as reported by DPA International, the locals of Gelsenkirchen bestowed additional honors upon her. These gestures included briefly renaming some areas after her (such as “Swiftkirchen”) and placing a stone in Gelsenkirchen’s Walk of Fame in her honor.

Who painted Taylor Swift’s mural in Germany?

In Gelsenkirchen, Germany, a mural of Taylor Swift was created by local artists Beni Veltum and Levin Tomala. According to Veltum, he chose to paint the mural as he wanted to express the “upbeat feelings” and “vibrancy” that the city exuded following being “overwhelmed by the joy” generated by Swift’s concerts.

Based on DPA reports, the Taylor Swift mural stands at a height of 10 meters and spans 5 meters in width. Veltum finished this artwork last week after devoting 10 days to painting and drying it. “I felt compelled to put aside my other tasks and act upon my instincts,” he explained.

Starting from October 18, 2024, Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour enters its closing stages with a series of three-day concerts in Miami, New Orleans, and Indianapolis, lasting until November 3, 2024. After that, she will play shows at various venues in Toronto and Vancouver from November 14, 2024 to December 8, 2024.
