For certain individuals, October might hold a certain level of terror, but it’s equally a wonderful opportunity to cozy up with your children and enjoy some films. Luckily, Netflix offers a variety of fantastic family-friendly movies being released this month.

Movies cater to children of various age groups. For instance, some films are tailored for younger family members who enjoy the antics of a witty, animated panda character. Not sure what to watch? Here are all the family movies on Netflix in October in release date order.

As the second half of Cobra Kai season 6 approaches, it’s clear that you’ll soon find yourself immersed in a Karate Kid-style adventure! It’s perfect timing to enjoy this with your children. This opportunity allows you to pass on your enthusiasm for the series and show them the importance of standing up for what’s just.

Kung Fu Panda 1 and 3

Surprisingly, unlike the other two, the second “Kung Fu Panda” film isn’t out yet, but you can now stream both the first and third movies on Netflix. It’s the perfect moment to embark on Po’s quest for self-discovery. As the most lazy and uncoordinated panda in the Valley of Peace, he harbors dreams of becoming a kung fu master. When Tai Lung endangers peace, he understands that there’s no better time than now to chase his ambitions.

The first and third movies are now on Netflix.

Over the Hedge

Over time, there have been numerous delightful animated films for families. One such movie is “Over the Hedge“, which focuses on Verne and his woodland companions. Upon waking from hibernation, they discover that their usual surroundings are no longer present. Now, humans occupy the area where they once lived.

In this period, RJ, the raccoon, demonstrates to other wild creatures how suburban areas can be utilized advantageously. However, one must consider the price both he and they might pay for such adaptation.

Over the Hedge is now on Netflix.

Zookeeper

Children find movies with talking animals irresistible, which explains their continuous production. Frankly, it’s hard not to appreciate their charm. After all, isn’t it fascinating to anthropomorphize animals? The movie “Zookeeper” achieves this beautifully, combining real-life action with computer-generated imagery.

In this rephrased version: We accompany Giffin Keyes, a gentle caretaker at the Franklin Park Zoo, who prefers the company of animals over people. Yet, his romantic life seems barren. In an attempt to find a more glamorous profession to attract a woman, he contemplates changing careers. However, this decision stirs unease among the zoo animals, who appreciate Giffin’s care. They communicate secretly because they can talk, and they decide to assist him in finding love while keeping his career.

Zookeeper is now on Netflix.

Kubo and the Two Strings

As an ardent anime enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news! If your loved ones share the same passion for anime as you do, here’s a gem that will undoubtedly bring joy: Kubo and the Two Strings. This masterfully created tale follows a young boy who inadvertently summons a vengeful spirit from his past, disrupting peace. On the run, he finds allies in Monkey and Beetle, embarking on a quest to unravel the secrets of his legacy.

In this film, you’ll find a blend of divine beings and mythical creatures. The narrative unfolds around a young character on a mission to protect his kin, uncover hidden familial truths, and unravel the enigma surrounding his father’s fate during combat.

You can already watch Kubo and the Two Strings on Netflix.

Pixels

This movie, Pixels, is perfect for the teen crowd! While it does contain a bit more mature humor, it’s still packed with exciting action. The unique twist? It breathes life into classic arcade games! Aliens pick up these feeds and, misinterpreting them as a declaration of war, attack Earth in pixelated form.

In order to tackle the current situation, humans must rely on the classic games they were familiarized with in their youth. Consequently, President Will Cooper partners with his long-time companion, Sam Brenner, to assemble a group of skilled military personnel. Together, they embark on a mission to safeguard the planet, one round of Pac-Man at a time.

Pixels is on Netflix on Friday, Oct. 11.

Clifford and the Big Red Dog

Everyone’s familiar with Clifford – he’s the giant red canine that people both adore (and sometimes resent) having around. Just picture the softness, but only if you have room for him in your home! This month, don’t miss out on the 2021 film “Clifford and the Big Red Dog” – it’s a perfect choice for family viewing.

In a surprising turn of events, Emily Elizabeth acquires a small, red canine from a mystical animal savior. Unaware of the transformation to come, this little red puppy expands into a colossal 10-foot hound during the night. With her mother absent on business, Emily and her uncle embark on an exciting journey alongside their gigantic companion, Clifford. This adventure promises entertainment for all family members.

Clifford and the Big Red Dog is on Netflix on Saturday, Oct. 12.

Kung Fu Panda 4

We said this film was part of our lineup, but unlike the others from the same series, it wasn’t released at the same time. This is due to the fact that “Kung Fu Panda” movie you’re referring to happens to be the latest one in the series.

When Po is selected as the spiritual guide of the Valley of Peace, he discovers that his duties involve training a new warrior. However, this gets delayed temporarily due to a mysterious sorceress becoming fascinated with the Staff of Wisdom. In order to safeguard the Valley of Peace (and indeed the entire world), Po must join forces with a cunning corsac fox!

Kung Fu Panda 4 is on Netflix on Monday, Oct. 21.

The Secret Life of Pets

When we head out to work, what do our pets do at home? It’s somewhat similar to pondering about toys when we’re away – there’s a lot of room for imagination, especially in animated films. In the movie “The Secret Life of Pets,” for instance, we catch a glimpse of their secret world. Indeed, they seem to chat among themselves.

Of course, there’s an exciting tale unfolding. Max, a spoiled terrier, lives a life of luxury. However, his comfortable existence is disrupted when his owner brings home Duke, an unruly dog. One fateful day, during a walk, they get separated from their human and find themselves in a truck heading towards the pound. Could they rely on their neighborhood friends to lend a helping paw?

The Secret Life of Pets is coming to Netflix on Tuesday, Oct. 22.
