Is Jamie Fraser in Lord John: A Plague of Zombies?

As a die-hard fan of Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series, I eagerly anticipated the release of “A Plague of Zombies“. Being a seasoned reader of the saga, I was well aware that our beloved Jamie Fraser would be absent from this particular adventure. However, the prospect of delving into another thrilling tale set in the intricate world of the Outlander universe was more than enough to pique my interest.

As a dedicated gamer, I can’t hide my excitement as the moment arrives for another thrilling adventure with Lord John Grey! This time, we dive into “A Plague of Zombies.” The anticipation is high, with whispers about potential appearances of characters from earlier tales.

Absolutely, we zero in on the character of Jamie Fraser predominantly. The novel “The Scottish Prisoner” delves deeply into Jamie’s life at Helwater, providing a rich understanding of his experiences. It showcases Jamie’s growing affection for Willie. Additionally, it reveals Lord John Grey unraveling the connection between Jamie and Willie.

In the upcoming book, can we expect to find Jamie featured more prominently? Given that their friendship has been rekindled, it seems likely. However, there’s a slight hiccup for those eagerly anticipating more of Jamie – the news isn’t entirely good.

Jamie Fraser is not in A Plague of Zombies

In this particular book featuring Lord John Grey, there’s no appearance by Jamie. Although Jamie is mentioned, his character does not play a part in the unfolding events of the story.

The primary reason for this is their different locations at the time. In 1761, John was in Jamaica, while Jamie wasn’t there yet and wouldn’t be until later in the 1760s. As we delve deeper into the novel “Voyager”, we approach the point where characters Jamie Fraser and Lord John Grey will meet again.

In the course of this narrative, John’s rendezvous in Jamaica is established, culminating in his appointment. Throughout the storyline, he temporarily assumes the role of Governor, demonstrating his suitability for the position. It’s hinted that he eventually receives this title formally as well.

Characters from earlier “Outlander” novels make an appearance as well. One such character is Geillis Duncan, now using a different name but still engaged in her usual mischief. Despite believing that the Jacobite uprising has ended, she continues to devise plans to shape her desired life. We wonder what Lord John Grey will think of her schemes.

We start our read-through of A Plague of Zombies on Monday, Oct. 14.
