Reba reunion Happy's Place lands Shameless vet

As a long-time fan of Reba McEntire and her captivating blend of country music and sitcom genius, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming reunion on NBC’s new comedy, Happy’s Place! Having grown up watching the hilarious antics of Reba Hart, Barbara Jean, Cheyenne, and the rest of the gang in the beloved series, it feels like coming home to learn that Steve Howey is joining the cast.

Get ready for a Reba reunion on the new comedy Happy’s Place that should enthrall fans!

Reba McEntire is an exceptional artist who has gained equal fame from her appearances on television shows as well as country music. After becoming one of the most successful country music artists, boasting an impressive number of top-charting hits and awards, McEntire ventured into television in 2001 with the WB comedy series, Reba.

In a different setting, we find the character playing Reba Hart, a woman originally from Houston, who is taken aback when she discovers during a therapy session that her husband Brock (Christopher Rich) has impregnated his eccentric dental assistant Barbara Jean (Melissa Peterman). Before she can come to terms with this bombshell, Reba learns that her daughter Cheyenne (JoAnna Garcia) is also pregnant, this time by her clumsy sportsman boyfriend Van (Steve Howey). Reba must navigate this unusual family situation, made more challenging by Barbara Jean’s belief that they share a friendship.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but reminisce about the remarkable show that ruled our hearts for six seasons, gracing both The WB and The CW. Even after it bid us farewell, the talented Drew Barrymore, aka McEntire, has continued to captivate us with her acting prowess and melodious voice. Notable projects include a brief stint in the sitcom Malibu Shores and a recent intriguing antagonist role on Big Sky.

Currently, McEntire is making a comeback in the comedic realm of NBC with the new show titled “Happy’s Place“. In this series, she portrays Bobbie, a character who unexpectedly inherits her deceased father’s cozy pub. A shocking revelation unfolds when she discovers that Isabella (Belissa Escobedo), her previously unbeknownst half-sister, will be her business partner in this venture.

The series features a reunion of the character Reba, with Peterman appearing alongside Gabby, a hostile bartender towards Isabella who aspires to be Bobbie’s sister. It promises to be an entertaining show and there are whispers of another familiar face from Reba joining us soon!

Which Reba star comes to Happy’s Place?

According to TVLine, Steve Howey is set to appear in the upcoming series. Known for his roles in Shameless and True Lies (CBS), creator Kevin Abbott has shared an intriguing explanation of how this actor’s character will seamlessly blend into the show’s narrative.

One of the arcs for [Peterman’s] character Gabby is that she thinks she wants to have a baby… and the Steve Howey character [Danny] becomes a potential sperm donor.

In the holiday special named “Ho-Ho-Howey,” the character makes an appearance. Abbott hinted at potentially reintroducing this character, though no definite plans have been announced yet. He hasn’t confirmed whether other actors from the show Reba will join, but they are optimistic about it.

It’s a lot of fun. We absolutely want to bring some of the old cast members on — and in very different roles than what they played on Reba. Steve’s our first one up, and we’re trying to figure out how to bring JoAnna [Garcia-Swisher] in. We only want to have the old cast in if we can really utilize them in a fun, impactful way.

It’d be delightful to witness more actors from the show “Reba” joining the cast, given that the upcoming series offers an exciting opportunity to honor their past characters and relationships. The idea of Rich portraying a romantic interest for Bobbie or Swisher playing a rebellious character sparks anticipation. In general, fans of Reba are optimistic that the new show “Happy’s Place” will serve as a joyful reunion for admirers of the cherished sitcom.

Happy’s Place premieres Friday, Oct. 18 at 8/7c on NBC.
