Where Was Outer Banks Season 4 Filmed? OBX Filming Locations

As a devoted fan of Outer Banks who has binge-watched every season multiple times, I must say that I was thrilled to discover the filming locations for Season 4 Part 1. It’s fascinating how the show manages to capture the essence of the OBX while primarily shooting in Charleston, South Carolina.

As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but share my excitement about diving back into the world of Netflix’s “Outer Banks”! This gripping series primarily unfolds on the beautiful Outer Banks islands along the North Carolina and Virginia coastline. The narrative delves deep into the stark contrast between the affluent and less fortunate residents who call these islands home. Now, with Season 4 Part 1 streaming live as of October 10th, fans are left wondering if this season was filmed on location.

Here is everything we have learned about Outer Banks Season 4 Episodes 1 to 5 filming locations.

List of all Outer Banks Season 4 filming locations

Just as we’ve seen with previous seasons, the fourth one was predominantly shot in and around Charleston, South Carolina, despite a large chunk of the storyline unfolding on the OBX. Filming kicked off in Charleston back in June 2023, but had to pause temporarily due to the 2023 Hollywood strike. It picked up again in November and wrapped up production for the entire season by June 2024. As a dedicated fan, I can’t wait to see how it all comes together!

Here are the locations where the first five episodes of Outer Banks Season 4 were shot.

Episode 1

Filming for the first episode’s 7-Eleven scene was conducted at Crosby’s Fish & Shrimp Company, located in Charleston. Meanwhile, the updated version of Poguelandia, known as Maybank, can be found within Charleston itself. The Enduro dirt bike race scenes were captured at Fort Fisher State Recreation Area on Kure Beach in North Carolina. Lastly, production for Blackstone Manor’s exterior shots was done at Sandfly Bluff in Charleston. (Paraphrased from Tudum)

Episode 2

The interior scenes of the Blackstone Manor were shot at the Admiral’s House and Quarter’s G in North Charleston. The location of the house of Pope’s uncle Roger is Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. The real-life Bowens Island Restaurant serves as Rockfish Bar, whereas yachts featured in the series, including Hollis’ boat, can be found at Toler’s Cove Marina in Mount Pleasant. Meanwhile, May Forest State Park in Charleston serves as the hospital this season.

Episode 3

1) In addition to being a set for Rafe’s latest residence, Mount Pleasant is also where we find the filming location. The Islamic Center is situated in North Charleston, while Sofia’s house can be found here in Charleston as well.

Episode 4

The real location of Mr. Sunn’s house is Johns Island, South Carolina.

Episode 5

In the show, the moment when John B. discovers his ancestor’s burial site at the Charleston church cemetery was actually filmed at the Circular Congregational Church and its adjacent graveyard in the city. Interestingly, the interior of the Charleston church seen in the episode was not the Unitarian Church itself, but a stand-in – the Unitarian Church in Charleston served as the set for the show’s interior scenes. Lastly, the scenes showing the catacombs and crypts were captured at Charleston’s Old Exchange Building (Provost).
