As a lifelong Tetris enthusiast who’s spent countless hours stacking blocks and clearing lines since the 80s, I can hardly contain my excitement for Tetris Forever! With its impressive lineup of classic titles and the enticing new addition, Tetris Time Warp, this collection promises to be a dream come true.
Tetris marches on as it marks its significant 40th year. To commemorate this milestone, Digital Eclipse has unveiled a selection of timeless Tetris titles, all to be gathered in a bundle named Tetris Forever. This is the latest addition to Digital Eclipse’s Gold Master Series – an intriguing blend of documentary-style narration and playable retro video games. Last week, the studio disclosed the complete roster of 14 games that will feature in this collection.
According to Digital Eclipse, these are the titles set to be included in Tetris Forever:
- Tetris (Apple II, 1988)
- Tetris (Famicom, 1988)
- Hatris (Famicom, 1990)
- Tetris 2 + Bombliss (Famicom, 1990)

Readers may notice that there are only 13 games listed. The 14th game is a fresh addition titled “Tetris Time Warp,” developed by Digital Eclipse. This unique installment allows players to travel through various Tetris timelines within a single gaming session. Up to four competitors will face challenges as they adapt to changing mechanics on the spot.
As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t wait to delve into the world of Tetris Forever! Not only will it offer hours of entertainment with its games, but it’ll also provide over an hour and a half of fascinating documentaries from Area 5. You’ll get to immerse yourself in interactive timelines and uncover secrets about Tetris that have never been seen before. Plus, you’ll get a peek at the original Electronika 60 prototype created by the game’s creator, Alexey Pajitnov! It’s going to be an incredible journey into the history of one of the most iconic games in gaming history.
Initially unveiled during the August 27, 2024 Nintendo Direct broadcast, Tetris Forever is planned for release across various platforms. As of now, a specific launch date has not been announced, but expect it to be available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch by the end of 2024.
