To be completely honest, I was able to crack this code thanks to my past experiences with Pathfinder, a tabletop RPG that shares some similarities with Dungeons & Dragons. The hint pointed towards “The Pathfinder, or The Inland Sea,” a novel by James Fenimore Cooper, penned in 1840. The protagonist, Natty, is also known as the Pathfinder, guiding people through forests – much like I navigated my way to the solution here. It’s not one of Cooper’s most famous works during that era, but it follows “The Last of the Mohicans.
