Tekken World Tour addresses XCC disqualification at Thaiger Uppercut 2024

As a long-time fan of Tekken, I must say that this recent development in the Tekken World Tour 2024 has been quite eye-opening. The disqualification of XCC, a promising talent, due to seemingly arbitrary rules was disappointing, to say the least. However, it’s heartening to see Bandai Namco stepping up and making things right.

The planned stop on the Tekken World Tour 2024 route that was supposed to take place recently stirred up a debate due to a competitor’s disqualification because they hailed from an ineligible country for the tournament series. However, Bandai Namco has taken steps to rectify the situation and has also promised to compensate all impacted players. In response to the unjust disqualification of Chinese player Chen “XCC” Ruolin at Thaiger Uppercut 2024, Bandai Namco’s esports division has issued a statement addressing this issue and promising reimbursement for affected parties.

Last week, a stir was caused when XCC advanced remarkably at the Thaiger Uppercut 2024 event, a preliminary stage on the Tekken World Tour 2024 itinerary held in Bangkok. Despite reaching the brink of the Top 8, his journey was cut short due to a rule that initially barred players from China from qualifying for the Tekken World Tour, as per VG247’s report. However, Bandai Namco Esports has since addressed this issue. Now, Chinese competitors will be allowed to participate in the Tour. Moreover, those affected by the initial rule will receive refunds for travel and accommodation expenses, and XCC will be invited to compete in the Tekken World Tour Last Chance Qualifier in December 2024.

The Tekken World Tour 2024 series proved to be a fantastic collection of events for Tekken enthusiasts globally. Regrettably, the rules of TWT 2024 previously limited certain countries, including China, from participating. Since each nation has its unique competition guidelines, prize distribution, public gatherings, and representation, Bandai Namco must navigate bureaucratic procedures to avoid complications with eligible nations. Fortunately, whatever obstacles prevented China from eligibility seem to have been promptly addressed in the aftermath of these recent developments.

It seems that Bandai Namco is set to honor XCC well. Keep an eye on the development of Tekken World Tour 2024, and look forward to more exciting Tekken news and insights right here on Shacknews.
