'We as an audience have become very negative': Jr NTR breaks silence on Devara's box office collection

As a long-time fan of Jr NTR, I must admit that his latest film, Devara, has been a rollercoaster ride for me. The movie has undeniably impressed many with its impressive box office collections, but it seems to have fallen short of the grandeur we’ve come to expect from Jr NTR’s previous blockbusters like RRR.

The film “Devara” featuring Jr NTR is doing well in cinemas since its debut on September 27. As per Sacnilk, the movie has earned roughly Rs 253 crore net within its first twelve days. Nevertheless, “Devara” doesn’t match up to the commercial success of Jr NTR’s past films like RRR, given mixed responses from critics. During an interview hosted by the filmmakers, Jr NTR explained how viewers are becoming more analytical in their approach.

Jr NTR expressed that lately, the audience seems to be quite critical and less inclined to simply appreciate a movie for what it is. Instead, they tend to scrutinize films more deeply.

The RRR star commented, “We all find ourselves frequently evaluating, contemplating, and dissecting films. Perhaps our extensive exposure to cinema has led us to adopt this mindset.” Additionally, Jr NTR pointed out how the changing nature of audiences might be causing the enjoyment of watching a movie to get overshadowed by critical analysis.

In case this pattern shifts over time, the actor commented, “Perhaps it’s just a cycle at work here. Everything could escalate excessively or may have done so already, only to balance out again and settle back to its usual state.

In the very same conversation, Jr NTR likened spectators to his own sons, stating that they merely appreciate films without being concerned about other matters. He voiced his wonder as to why viewers appear to have forsaken the unadulterated pleasure of movie-watching and speculated if prolonged exposure to cinema might be responsible for this shift.

Despite this, Devara is steadily approaching the Rs 500 billion mark worldwide. Soon, Jr NTR and director Koratala Siva will resume work on the sequel of the movie, but they’ve temporarily halted production due to their other obligations.

In addition to Devara, the film showcased Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan in significant parts. Their performance was highly appreciated since it marked their first appearance in Telugu cinema. The ensemble cast of Jr NTR’s movie also featured actors like Prakash Raj, Shine Tom Chacko, Shruti Marathe, Murali Sharma, and others.
