88-year-old renowned Malayalam actor TP Madhavan sadly passed away at a private hospital in Kollam on October 9th. As per Mathrubhumi’s report, he had been on a ventilator due to health issues concerning his stomach. His final rites will take place at Shanthi Kavadam in Thiruvananthapuram on the following day, October 10th.
Currently, Raja Krishna Menon and Devika are the surviving family members of TP Madhavan. In his latter years, Madhavan resided at Gandhi Bhavan in Pathanapuram. Some time ago, Madhavan chose to retire from acting following a diagnosis of amnesia. Additionally, he has been receiving medical care for a stroke since 2015.
As per the document, it is stated that Madhavan, who was born to acclaimed professor N.P. Pillai, holds a Master’s degree in Sociology. Prior to venturing into acting, he managed advertising firms in Kolkata and Mumbai.
At the age of forty, Madhavan embarked on an acting career. His initial breakthrough role was in the film Raagam, which premiered in 1975. Over the course of his illustrious career, he featured in more than six hundred movies. Initially, Madhavan played villainous characters, but later transitioned to comedic roles and garnered acclaim for his remarkable performances.
In addition, Madhavan also appeared in several television serials before suffering from amnesia.
He was honored with the Prem Nazir and Ramu Karyat Awards for his contributions to the Indian film industry.
Madhavan was chosen for military service in the Indian Army, but unfortunately, a broken hand forced him to step down. Beyond his acting career, it’s worth noting that he held the position of the inaugural General Secretary for the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) as well.
