The news that Netflix has not only greenlit but also preemptively renewed The Night Agent for seasons 2 and 3 is beyond fantastic! It’s rare to find a series that manages to keep me on the edge of my seat like this one does.
Netflix’s top FBI agent has received his directive for his next mission – the much-anticipated second season of “The Night Agent” is set to premiere during winter 2025. While we don’t have a specific month yet, it will definitely air early in the new year!
Apart from announcing more positive updates about The Night Agent, Netflix swiftly greenlit a third season, with filming set to commence in Istanbul by the end of 2024, followed by additional shooting in New York City in 2025. This upcoming season will consist of ten episodes and is expected to hit screens before the close of 2025.

The Night Agent season 3 renewed ahead of season 2 premiere
After completing the filming for season 2 this summer, it appears that the creative team behind The Night Agent started brainstorming ideas for season 3 as early as July. Now that the series has been officially renewed, the cast and crew can immediately begin production on the new season.
Prior to the start of the second season, it was officially announced that Basso and Buchanan would be reprising their roles. Additionally, several new main and supporting actors had already been selected for the series. Joining the regular cast are Amanda Warren, Berto Colon, Louis Herthum, Arienne Mandi, Michael Malarkey, and Keon Alexander, who will play significant parts in season 2. The recurring cast also includes Brittany Snow as Peter’s new partner Alice, Teddy Sears, Navid Negahban, and Rob Heaps.
Initially created by Shawn Ryan, known for his work on S.W.A.T., the action-packed drama series The Night Agent made its debut on Netflix in March 2023. This launch proved to be a game-changer, catapulting the show to immediate fame and success. Just five days following its premiere, Netflix announced a second season for the series and set a release date for 2024. Despite these two significant events, The Night Agent managed to return for another season this year.
At the conclusion of season 1, Peter not only rescued the situation and won the girl, but also received his first assignment as a genuine Night Agent following President Travers’ promotion. The initial season saw him untangling a conspiracy that ran deep within the White House, making it hard to distinguish who was trustworthy. It turned out that Diane Farr was someone we believed we could rely on.
In June, filming for the second season of “The Night Agent” came to an end, paving the way for its broadcast later in the year. Wisely, Netflix is preparing to continue their association with “The Night Agent,” potentially extending it beyond season 3, given Ryan’s recent multi-year deal with the streaming service. The journey commences with season 2, set to premiere on Netflix during winter 2025.
