Terrifier 3 Banned for Minors in 1 Country Due to Extreme Gore & Violence

As a long-time fan of horror films, I must say that the news about Terrifier 3 being banned in France for minors has left me both intrigued and disappointed. Having witnessed some of the most intense and gory scenes in the genre, I can understand the reasons behind such a decision, but as a viewer who appreciates the darker side of cinema, I find it unfortunate that passionate teenage fans will miss out on this highly anticipated sequel.

On October 11, 2024, the highly anticipated horror movie “Terrifier 3” is set to hit theatres. But surprisingly, the filmmakers were taken aback when the film was prohibited from being shown in France.

The upcoming film, Terrifier 3, is a follow-up to the well-received movies Terrifier 1 and 2. These films center around the bloodthirsty character, Art the Clown. Given that the series is known for its intense gore and violence, the creators are aiming for Terrifier 3 to outdo its predecessors during this Halloween season.

Terrifier 3 gets banned for minors with rare 18-plus rating in France

As per a Dexerto report, the highly anticipated horror film by Damien Leone has been prohibited for viewers under 18 in France. This is the first such restriction since the 2006 release of Saw III, which similarly barred minors from viewing the movie.

In an announcement to Bloody Disgusting, the distributors of Terrifier 3 in France expressed their regret over the sudden decision that would significantly impact the movie’s release. Thousands of eager French fans had been looking forward to its screening on October 9, but this choice will undoubtedly create challenges for that plan.

The film’s distributors stated, ‘Fans of these movies, including teenagers, are dedicated movie enthusiasts who appreciate the films and cinemas that screen them. The tale of genre cinema, its extremes and controversies, is deeply connected to the story of cinema in general. Limiting access to audiences is a significant decision with a troubling implication, as it separates creators from their audience.’

Leone took to X (formerly Twitter) to add that the ban is a “Badge of honor.”

11 spectators who attended the initial screening of Terrifier 3 in the UK chose to exit the cinema. Among these, nine found the opening sequence too intense to continue watching, and a single individual was unable to stomach it, resulting in vomiting.
