As a die-hard action enthusiast who’s seen more bullets fly than I care to count, the news of Lionsgate acquiring The Professionals has me all kinds of excited! Having grown up on a steady diet of John Wick, this new project from Chad Stahelski, the mastermind behind Keanu Reeves’s action resurgence, promises to be nothing short of electrifying.
It’s been confirmed that Lionsgate now owns the rights for an action-murder mystery film titled “The Professionals”. This movie is under the guidance of Chad Stahelski, director of John Wick, who will be contributing as a producer through his production company, 87Eleven Entertainment.
There’s some uncertainty about whether Stahelski will also be involved in this project as he is currently committed to directing and producing multiple high-profile projects. Among these are a remake of Highlander featuring Henry Cavill and a lead role, as well as the first John Wick spin-off movie titled Ballerina, which stars Ana de Armas and is scheduled for release in theaters on June 6, 2025.

In a nutshell, “The Professionals” – penned by former stuntman-turned-writer Madison Turner (known for “The Dark Knight”) based on an early draft by Hunter Perot, is being compared to the 1995 whodunnit classic Clue and Keanu Reeves’ 2014 action film John Wick. The production is handled by Alex Young, Jason Spitz, Jason Michael Berman, and Jordan Moldo, with Hunter Perot, Josh Glick, and David Bernon serving as executive producers.
