CS2: Valve taking action against XP-farming in casual matches

As a seasoned CS2 player with countless hours spent on Dust 2, I must say that Valve’s recent moves have left me both perplexed and intrigued. On one hand, I understand the need to curb XP-farming, which has undeniably altered the essence of many game modes. However, as someone who’s spent countless nights strategizing and executing in the middle area of Dust 2, it feels like a piece of my gaming history is being taken away.

Just one day after the release of CS2’s biggest update yet, Valve had to roll out another patch.

How has Valve prevented further XP-farming?

Notably, they revised the method for calculating scores in Casual, Competitive, and Wingman modes by excluding any damage caused by knives or utilities from the final tally.

In different gameplay scenarios, participants were primarily concerned with quickly accumulating experience points (XP). Notably, the favored map in CS2’s relaxed mode, known as Dust 2, transformed into a hot zone for farming XP.

As soon as the rounds began, the central region swiftly became packed with Molotov cocktails and fire bombs.

As for the Deathmatch mode, players would meet up on certain positions and trade knife-kills.

The only way for players to now farm damage, counting towards progress in said Armory-Pass, is by bullet-damage.

As you can see below, there are still ways to gain XP a little faster. This is an example of teams agreeing to meet in tunnels:
