Daryl Dixon - The Book of Carol, Norman Reedus and fans react to THAT kiss!

As a long-time fan of “The Walking Dead,” I must say that this latest twist in Daryl’s love life has left me quite intrigued. While I’ve always been a Caryler at heart, I can understand why some fans might be taken aback by this sudden development. However, let’s not forget the rich emotional journey Daryl has been through over the years. From losing his brother to surviving the Whisperers and beyond, he’s had more than his fair share of heartbreak.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but reminisce about the momentous slap echoed across the fandom during season seven of “The Walking Dead,” when Olivia (Ann Mahoney) boldly smacked Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) for his insensitive remarks. Even the most ardent Negan supporters agreed that he had it coming! Now, we’re reeling from another jaw-dropping incident, “the kiss heard round the fandom,” as our dearest character Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) shared a tender moment with Isabelle (Clemence Poesy) in “The Walking Dead:” “Daryl Dixon’s – The Book of Carol.

Fans who have been following “The Walking Dead” since its beginning are well aware that discussions about Daryl’s sexuality, relationships, or romantic interests often spark debate within the fanbase. Some feel he deserves a love interest, while others believe he has already found it in Carol (Melissa McBride) or Connie (Lauren Ridloff). Others are fine with him remaining single.

In the second episode of season 2 of the Daryl Dixon show, titled “Moulin Rouge,” Daryl asks Isabelle, whom he met in France during season 1, to accompany him on his journey back home. Given their shared concern for Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi), this wasn’t entirely unexpected. They both want to save Laurent from the Union of Hope, who believe Laurent is destined for a miracle and are planning a ceremony that could endanger him. At first, Isabelle refuses Daryl’s proposal, but after they uncover some new information, she changes her mind and decides to go with him. Their subsequent kiss has sparked lots of conversation on social media.

During a chat with Entertainment Weekly, Reedus shared his thoughts on the kiss and the excitement it generated.

“I think it was an experiment,” the star tells Entertainment Weekly. “It was, ‘What is this?’ It wasn’t a ‘This is it!’ It’s a ‘What is this? And what would that look like and how does that feel?’ I don’t think there was an intention to get to second base. I think it was more of scarily parting these curtains to look at the idea of it.”

As a gamer, I must say that the unexpected smooch didn’t feel out of place or contrived. From the get-go in season 1, there were hints of a potential bond forming between Daryl and Isabelle upon their arrival at The Nest. With tension easing slightly, things took an intriguing turn between them.

Besides fans having diverse viewpoints, many appeared critical about the kiss, but there were a few who appreciated that moment for Daryl.

In the comment below, @shaunastai mentions Fleur Delacour, the role played by actress Emma Watson in the movie “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” (2005). However, @shaunastai didn’t find her performance impressive.

@castielfolklore was another fan who didn’t approve of this moment.

At seeing Daryl kiss Isabelle, Kristin_upnorth expressed her disappointment, exclaiming, “Whoever planned that moment!

In my opinion, the kiss wasn’t unexpected; rather, it appeared the showrunner was attempting to establish a bond between the characters during their first season at the Nest, setting the stage for potential romantic development.

It appears that @Fabfork may be overlooking the fact that Daryl had an unconventional romance with Leah (played by Lynn Collins) during season 10 of “The Walking Dead”.

It’s clear that supporters of the ‘Carylers’, the faction rooting for a romantic relationship between Carol and Daryl, wouldn’t have been satisfied with this particular scene.

@EzekielsPayton was pleased with the scene and prospect of love for Daryl.

On October 13th, the third episode of “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” series, titled “The Invisible,” featuring the return of Carol, will air.
