Epic aims to have 50 third party games on its mobile Games Store app by early 2025

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation and excitement at the prospect of Epic Games Store mobile app’s expansion. Having navigated through numerous gaming generations, I’ve seen the evolution of digital distribution platforms, and Epic Games’ ambition to challenge the perceived monopoly of Apple and Google is a breath of fresh air.

To challenge Apple and Google’s perceived monopoly in the mobile app market, Epic Games has been dedicating significant resources to the debut of their Epic Games Store mobile application. Key personnel from the company have outlined their vision for the app’s near future, which may include up to 50 games being available on the Epic Games Store mobile by early 2025, along with a version of their Free Games program.

Epic Games Store general manager Steve Allison was the one who shared these expectations during a recent roundtable interview at the Unreal Fest event in Seattle, as reported by MobileGamer.biz. The Epic Games Store app is currently available worldwide on Android devices, albeit limited to EU territories on iOS. It was Epic Games’ way of getting past Apple’s ban of Fortnite on iOS, although it’s also part of ongoing contentions between the two, with Epic CEO Tim Sweeney acting openly hostile towards Apple’s “walled garden” ecosystem on mobile app distribution and access.

At the Unreal Fest gathering, Epic Games unveiled a new initiative during their keynote speech. They announced the Launch Everywhere developer incentive, which allows developers to pay fewer royalties to Epic Games when they release Unreal Engine games that debut simultaneously (or first) on the Epic Games Store along with other PC and mobile platforms.

As Epic aims to attract more developers to their platform, we’ll be excited to find out if they can achieve their ambitious targets by early 2025 through the Epic Games Store application. Keep an eye on Shacknews for the latest news and updates!
