As a gamer who’s been through the apocalyptic trials and tribulations of countless zombie survival games, I can say that “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol” is a rollercoaster ride that rivals even the most intense gaming sessions. The latest episode, “Moulin Rouge,” was a thrilling adventure filled with unexpected twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat.

In the second volume of “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol,” (titled “Moulin Rouge”) offers an exhilarating narrative featuring a detour to Greenland, a seemingly abduction, a passionate French kiss, brutal torture scenes, and much more.

“Proceed with caution, folks! This read-through might unveil some secrets from episode 202 titled ‘Moulin Rouge’ in the series ‘The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol’. I wouldn’t want to ruin any surprises for you!”

Melissa McBride’s character, Carol, promptly resumed her role in The Walking Dead Universe with vigor and determination. With a purpose driving her actions, nothing seems capable of deterring her from achieving her goals. Her current objective is to find her close friend Daryl, portrayed by Norman Reedus, who she learns has been transferred to France.

In the initial episode of the season, Carol encountered a man named Ash (Manish Dayal), a bereaved father who possesses an airplane. Taking advantage of this situation, she deceived Ash and convinced him to embark on a transatlantic trip to France.

“Moulin Rouge” highlights

As a gamer, I found myself awestruck during our pitstop in what seemed like the frozen tundra of Greenland. In reality, it was none other than the majestic French Alps! The drone footage was nothing short of mesmerizing, providing a logical explanation for how our tiny craft could traverse such a challenging journey.

As a fan, I’d rephrase it like this:

Ash and Carol make it to France, and watching Carol’s elation at reaching their destination is heartwarming. This trip was filled with uncertainties, and I suspect she doubted they would ever actually get there. However, she swiftly dismisses Ash’s attempts to help her look for her daughter, brushing off his concerns about the lie she told him. The truth is, Carol had always intended to find Daryl. Despite their friendship growing over the course of their travels, what will transpire when Ash learns about her deception?

It appears that the Union of Hope, as portrayed by its leader Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi), may not be entirely what it seems. The mysterious ceremony and tests to prove Laurent’s status, hinted at in conversations between Losang (Joel de la Fuente) and Jacinta (Nassima Benchicou), suggest a hidden agenda or complexity that the members are starting to question.

Daryl yearns deeply for the day he can go back to where he belongs. His painful past, marked by a tumultuous childhood, has often left him questioning his worthiness of affection. Despite being wholeheartedly embraced by Carol, Rick, Judith, and others, he’s always kept his distance, living as a solitary figure. Having been parted from his makeshift family, he now recognizes the void they filled in his life. In France, he’s developed a bond with Laurent, taking on a paternal role for him. He’s also grown quite attached to Isabelle (Clemence Poesy), such that he’s extended an invitation for them to accompany him on his journey back home.

In this scene, Daryl and Isabelle share a kiss, causing another split among the fanbase, given that any hint of Daryl’s love life tends to spark controversy. There are multiple possibilities for why this happened, such as Daryl seeking emotional connection since he’s in a melancholic state, longing for his family. It’s also plausible that he harbors romantic feelings towards Isabelle; only future events will reveal the truth.

In their investigation into the Nest, Daryl and Isabelle were intentionally led astray by a staged kidnapping of Laurent. This diversion was orchestrated to facilitate a ceremony, as previously discussed. Emile (Tristan Zanchi) informs them that this plan is designed to confirm, beyond doubt, that Laurent indeed lives up to his role as humanity’s savior by enduring a bite from a walker.

On October 13th, the third episode of “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” series titled “The Invisible” featuring Carol will be released.
