As a dedicated gamer who has seen countless twists and turns in virtual worlds, I can’t help but feel a sense of deja vu with the delayed release of “The Couple Next Door“. I’ve battled bosses that took longer to appear than anticipated, navigated through labyrinths of unforeseen obstacles, only to reach the exit when I least expected it. This rollercoaster of anticipation and disappointment is not new to me.
Enthusiasts of the series “Outlander” undoubtedly looked forward to actor Sam Heughan taking on another show. We’re eagerly awaiting the six-part psychological thriller titled “The Couple Next Door“. Fortunately, it’s set to premiere on Starz.
Unfortunately, that’s as far as the positive news goes regarding the series. Initially planned for release in 2024, it has already been broadcasted in the UK, with its premiere taking place in November 2023. However, despite this, viewers in the United States on Starz are still left in anticipation for the show’s airing.
It seems there’s some confusion about the current situation, but it appears increasingly probable that the release of this series might be moved to 2025.
The Couple Next Door is coming “this winter”
During the summer heat, a tantalizing teaser for the upcoming show dropped. The cryptic message it conveyed was simply “this winter.” Now, you’d typically expect a specific date like “winter 2024” if that was their original plan. However, the intriguing thing is, it seems like Starz might have nudged the release to 2025. But at the time of the trailer, they chose not to make it crystal clear.
As an avid Outlander fan, I’ve come to appreciate the significance of the Winter Solstice and how it marks the beginning of winter, usually towards the end of December. Given that Christmas and New Year are right around this time, it seems logical that a new show wouldn’t be introduced then. Instead, January appears to be an ideal period for premiering shows that missed the fall window. Consequently, I’m eagerly anticipating the debut of The Couple Next Door in January 2025.
The Couple Next Door could follow the Outlander Season 7 finale
Additionally, it’s important to note that the second half of Outlander Season 7, which is set to premiere on November 22nd, will consist of eight episodes. If there’s a weekly break in the schedule, as is often the case, the season finale would be expected to air on January 17th.
Running “The Couple Next Door” directly after the “Outlander” Season 7 finale could be a strategic move. This could either happen on the same week to keep viewers engaged, or the following week. In this scenario, the premiere of “The Couple Next Door” would likely fall around Friday, January 24, if it doesn’t coincide with the finale airing in the same week.
2024 had been eagerly anticipated as the year “The Couple Next Door” was due, following our summer 2022 discovery. Now, with its delay, it leaves us feeling let down and questioning other release dates, particularly for “Outlander: Blood of My Blood”, which is set to come out in 2025.
