Video game news in review: The biggest news from the week of October 4, 2024

As a gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, this week’s gaming news has been a rollercoaster ride! I’ve seen it all – from the humble beginnings of pixelated graphics to the jaw-dropping realism we have today.

This week, it’s more video game updates! It appears to be a quieter week, but no worries, we’re delving deeper into the world of Echoes of Wisdom, so a little downtime is welcome.

Let’s dive right in!

Death Stranding 2 new footage

According to a tweet by Kojima, this is the first publicly available sneak peek of gameplay footage, and it lives up to the wild, chaotic expectations that come with Death Stranding 2.

In this production, we’re meeting a host of fresh faces, including Elle Fanning, and I must admit, I’m a bit puzzled about the storyline so far. Yet, I’m eagerly anticipating where this wild ride takes us when it hits the screens around 2025.

The PS5 Pro (unsurprisingly) hasn’t sold out yet

It should come as no shock that the PS5 Pro hasn’t been snapped up instantly. As recently as a few days ago, it was still possible to pre-order this new console on PlayStation Direct, and pre-orders will begin at major retailers starting October 10th.

We’ll have to see how things fare for this mid-gen upgrade and that insane price tag.

First trailer for Like A Dragon: Yakuza Amazon series

The Yakuza video games, including Like A Dragon following its rebranding, are quite extraordinary. They have the potential to be highly amusing and captivating if adapted into a TV series. It’s no wonder then that the upcoming Amazon Prime Video series appears truly spectacular.

We can’t wait to watch this when it launches on Prime on October 24!

New Xbox Game Pass games this fall

Microsoft revealed some impressive new games for their Game Pass service via a tweet. To be honest, each one looks fantastic.

The game “Sifu” is fantastic, while the game “Inscryption” offers a brief yet unsettling card-playing experience. In this game, you’re compelled to engage in a card game against an enigmatic figure who has ensnared you within an abandoned cabin. Despite its eerie nature, it’s surprisingly hard to quit playing, and the allure of the mystery keeps you coming back for more, even after meeting your demise during a card game.

New patch for Star Wars Outlaws offers some hope

Ubisoft is following through on their commitment to resolve problems faced by gamers regarding Star Wars Outlaws, as evidenced in the initial list of updates. One line within these notes may bring some comfort to players:

Tweaked the overall stealth experience by adjusting AI detection, the number of NPCs and their positioning, patrol pathing, camera detection and highlighting environmental opportunities to reduce player friction

Patch Notes 1.2, Star Wars Outlaws

Players are likely to be pleased because the problematic stealth aspect of the game has been rectified. It’s unfortunate that fixing this issue took a whole month, but now that it’s done, let’s hope it results in an improvement.
