Spider-Noir Begins Filming, Set Photos of Nicolas Cage Emerge Online

As a seasoned gamer and comic book enthusiast with over two decades under my belt, I must say that the emergence of Spider-Noir is nothing short of electrifying! Having grown up during the golden age of Spidey comics, seeing Nicolas Cage step into the trench coat and fedora of the 1930s Noir Spider-Man feels like a dream come true.

The first Spider-Noir set photos have emerged online.

The production process for Spider-Noir, the latest live-action Marvel series from Sony Pictures Television, Amazon MGM Studios, and MGM+, has commenced. Snapshots, featuring Nicolas Cage in a long trench coat and a crouching position, initially posted by Just Jared, are now being widely shared online.

What do we know about Spider-Noir?

The show narrates the tale of a hard-pressed, older private detective named Cage, living in 1930s New York City. His life takes an unexpected turn when he’s compelled to confront his past as the city’s sole superhero.

In this animated series, it’s Cage who’s taking on the role of Spider-Man Noir, a character he previously lent his voice to in 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse film. The co-showrunners for this series are Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot. They, along with Harry Bradbeer, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal, serve as executive producers. Notably, Bradbeer is responsible for directing the first two episodes of the show.

Alongside Cage, it’s been revealed that Lamorne Morris from New Girl will portray Robbie Robertson. The ensemble also includes Brendan Gleeson, Li Jun Li, Abraham Popoola, Jack Huston, Karen Rodriguez, Lukas Haas, Cameron Britton, Cary Christopher, Michael Kostroff, Scott MacArthur, Joe Massingill, Whitney Rice, and Amanda Schull. In simpler terms, these actors will be joining Cage in the cast, with Lamorne Morris playing Robbie Robertson.

Spider-Noir is going to debut as the initial TV show in Sony’s Spider-Man universe, a shared cinematic world that started with Venom back in 2018. Since then, we’ve seen Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021), Morbius (2022), Madame Web (2024), and Venom: The Last Dance on October 25, 2024. Following this, Kraven the Hunter is set to be released on December 13, 2024.

The release date for the Spider-Noir series is still unknown, but it’s set to make its initial appearance on MGM+. Later on, it will be available worldwide on Amazon Prime Video.
