What do we know about Companion?
In this new project, Companion represents Hancock’s first time directing a full-length movie, even though he had experience in scriptwriting for TV shows like Blue Mountain State, Suburgatory, Mr. Pickles, My Dead Ex, and others in the past.
The film is being made by Roy Lee from Vertigo, Raphael Margules and J.D. Lifshitz from BoulderLight, Miri Yoon, and Zach Creeger. Notably, Creeger also directed the 2022 movie “Barbarian,” starring Bill Skarsgård, Georgina Campbell, and Justin Long.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter in May 2023, Cregger initially intended Companion as his follow-up project after Barbarian. However, he chose to work on Weapons instead, with a release date set for 2026. The team’s support enabled Companion not only to find a production base but also gave the go-ahead for filming, supporting Hancock in his directorial debut, as stated in the article.
Tracy Rosenblum from BoulderLight and Andrew Childs of Vertigo are the showrunners responsible for Companion.
Born to Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid of The Substance, Quaid is a popular actor who showcases his talent in Amazon Prime Video’s series The Boys. He lends his voice to Clark Kent in My Adventures with Superman and Brad Boimler in Star Trek: Lower Decks. His extensive filmography spans over a decade, featuring roles in 2012’s The Hunger Games, 2017’s Logan Lucky, Tragedy Girls, Rampage, Scream (2022), Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023), and Oppenheimer.
As a passionate moviegoer, let me share with you the star-studded cast of this upcoming film: Alongside me, you’ll see Sophie Thatcher, known for her roles in ‘Heretic’ and ‘The Boogeyman’; Lukas Gage, who has graced our screens in ‘Smile 2’ and ‘Euphoria’; Megan Suri, best recognized from ‘Never Have I Ever’; Harvey Guillén, whose talent we’ve admired in ‘What We Do in the Shadows’; and Rupert Friend, a familiar face from ‘Homeland’.
Companion will be released in United States theaters on January 10, 2025, from Warner Bros.
