As a seasoned reader with a penchant for all things supernatural and a soft spot for vampire lore, I must say that “Fang Fiction” has managed to scratch an itch that I didn’t even know existed. While it’s no “Twilight,” this book is the perfect read for those who loved the saga of Edward and Bella but crave something a tad darker and more complex.
Regarding vampire literature, there’s no denying that “Twilight” made a significant mark. When discussions about related works arose, “Fang Fiction” was often the title that immediately sprung to mind.
Although this book is far from being similar to “Twilight”, it seems perfectly suited for readers who adored “Twilight” and are seeking a captivating read for the upcoming Halloween season.
As a self-confessed admirer of the supernatural, it’s hard to ignore the allure of vampires that’s sweeping through pop culture right now. Whether you’re immersing yourself in the timeless tale of Louis and Lestat from Interview With a Vampire, or adding another book about fangs and fiction to your “To Be Read” pile, it’s clear that we’re kindred spirits in our fascination with these enigmatic creatures.

Besides the fact that it’s a tale about vampires, I’d like to offer some content warnings before you dive in. If themes such as sexual assault, panic attacks, or PTSD make you uncomfortable, it might be best to pass on this book. However, if you can handle these subjects, then I invite you to immerse yourself in the captivating world of “Fang Fiction“.
In this tale, we find ourselves delving into the life of Tess, an ardent admirer of the extensive Blood Feud book series. This collection chronicles the lives of two vampire siblings, Callum and Octavia, spanning over a considerable period. The narrative begins as Tess grapples with the fallout from her decision to leave her graduate program and an unfortunate incident involving assault. To provide a comprehensive view, we’ll touch upon events leading up to her assault and its consequences, but please be aware if this subject matter may cause discomfort.
Following my graduation, I stepped into a new role at a hotel, little did I know that this ordinary job would lead me to an extraordinary encounter. That’s where I ran into Octavia, a character straight out of my beloved book series. At first, I was taken aback, finding it hard to believe the surreal turn of events. Yet, it was evident that Octavia required aid, so I didn’t hesitate to reach out to Callum for help. Naturally, the prospect of visiting the Isle was too enticing to resist.
Octavia provides straightforward guidance for Tess, but things soon veer off course when Tess encounters her fictional admiration, Felix. Instead of getting along with Callum, she experiences tension. Moreover, Tess’s existence in a vampire society is far from easy. Yet, the personal development that both Tess and Callum undergo together is remarkable, and I was captivated by Kate Stayman-London’s pairing of these characters.
Yet, there’s another blossoming relationship that unfolds as Octavia interacts with Joni, Tess’s closest friend, in their joint efforts to help Tess. Besides the romance, Fang Fiction delves into themes such as trauma, sibling relationships, friendships, and personal growth, helping one find the correct direction in life.
Beyond the captivating narrative and character interactions, the author skillfully injected a heap of engaging extras that made me feel like I was living every moment alongside these characters in Blood Feud. From intriguing snippets from Blood Feud itself, to brain-teasing quizzes, and delightful surprises around every corner, it felt as if I was deeply invested in the game. To put it simply, this book was a rollercoaster of intensity, fun, and suspense that made for an unforgettable read during the chilling autumn season.
If you find the content engaging, I’d recommend giving “Fang Fiction” a try. By the end, it’s likely that you’ll have developed a favorite vampire character!
