Despite previous rumors, Monster Hunter Wilds runs just fine at 60 fps on base PS5

As a seasoned Monster Hunter player with over two decades of hunting under my belt, I can say that the anticipation for Wilds has been a rollercoaster ride. The initial claims about the game struggling to reach 30 fps on a base PS5 were enough to make me question whether I should upgrade to a Pro just yet. But, thankfully, the recent official gameplay stream has put those worries to rest.

Enthusiasts of Monster Hunter have longed for a fresh installment since six years ago, but their anticipation was momentarily dampened earlier this week. This was due to allegations made by a Chinese content producer who had attended the Tokyo Game Show and played the demo. However, these claims have been contradicted by a more recent gameplay broadcast.

Monster Hunter Wilds stream proves the game can hit 60 fps

Hey there fellow gamers! So, just the other day, I stumbled upon some buzz about the Chinese content creator, Dog Feeding Club (yeah, I know, right?), claiming that Monster Hunter Wilds was running sub-par on a standard PS5. They tested it during the Tokyo Games Show demo and reportedly couldn’t even manage 30 frames per second. Needless to say, this has sparked quite the uproar among us gamers – frankly, we expect more than 30fps in 2024!

However, a short while later, there was an official live stream of Monster Hunter Rise lasting around 40 minutes, during which the game appeared to be running at nearly 60 frames per second, albeit not perfectly consistently. Contrary to the claims made by the Dog Feeding Club earlier, the game’s performance seemed significantly better than they had suggested.

It appears that the demo released for the public might be an earlier version of the game, while the streamed gameplay showcased a newer one. Regardless of the cause, we’re thrilled that Monster Hunter enthusiasts won’t have to upgrade to a PS5 Pro to play the game.
