Siddique rape case: Supreme Court to hear Malayalam actor's pre-anticipatory bail while he is still absconding

As a seasoned observer of the entertainment industry, I find myself deeply troubled by the ongoing saga surrounding Malayalam actor Siddique. Having spent years immersed in this world, I’ve come to understand that the glitz and glamour often mask underlying issues that demand our attention.

Following the High Court’s denial of anticipatory bail for actor Siddique on September 24, he chose to appeal the lower court’s decision regarding the sexual assault case in the Supreme Court. Today (September 30), his request for pre-arrest bail will be heard by the Supreme Court. The case has been scheduled as the 62nd matter before Justice Bela Madhurya Trivedi and Satish Chandra Sharma today.

It’s important to note that the Malayalam actor, Siddique, is currently on the run from the authorities as per the Special Investigation Team’s confirmation. Meanwhile, the police are actively searching for him and have even issued a notice for his arrest. Yet, they have not managed to locate Siddique, who is also known as the Nandanam actor.

According to an article in Onmanorama, since Siddique is evading arrest, the woman who filed a charge against him for sexual misconduct claims that the police are assisting Siddique in hiding following the High Court’s denial of his appeals.

The previously mentioned media outlet stated that the Kerala administration plans to challenge the actor, Siddique, in the case they are involved in. Moreover, they intend to resist his plea for anticipatory bail in the Supreme Court. Furthermore, the report indicates that the government will argue that allowing bail to someone like Siddique could potentially endanger the life of the woman who has filed a complaint against him.

For those unfamiliar, actress Revathy Sampath recently alleged that a Malayalam actor had sexually assaulted her some years back. She further stated that she wasn’t the only one, as several of her friends have also experienced such abuse.

According to Onmanorama’s report, Revathy shared that Siddique initially reached out to her via social media. After the release of the film ‘Sukhamayirikkatte’, he invited her to his hotel room for a meeting. At that time, she was only 21 years old. In the privacy of the room, Siddique assaulted her sexually and also locked the door. However, she found a way to escape.

Following a grievance she expressed, Siddique stepped down from his position as Secretary General of the Malayalam Movie Artistes Association (AMMA), it should be noted that he has been accused under Sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
