As a seasoned gamer with countless hours logged into various RPGs, I must say that the Withered Necropolis symbol puzzle in Remnant 2 has left me scratching my head more than once. The Genesis bow is an enticing reward, but the time-based puzzle to unlock it feels like a cruel joke from the developers.
In the game Remnant 2, there’s a hidden challenge called the “Withered Necropolis Symbol Riddle.” This secret puzzle is quite intricate as it leads to the acquisition of the Genesis bow. To solve it, players must observe and memorize specific symbols. They can either return on another day or manually adjust their game system’s clock to achieve this interesting Long Gun unlock.
Genesis bow, Withered Necropolis symbol puzzle
In the newly introduced region of N’Erud, included in The Dark Horizon expansion, you can discover the Genesis bow by solving the enigma hidden within the Withered Necropolis symbols. This puzzle is accessed through the Waylaid Conservatory’s world crystal and lies opposite to the Warden Archetype item. To find the symbol puzzle, follow these steps:
- Start at the Waylaid Conservatory world crystal
- Grab the glider by the NPC
- Descend into the cavern directly in front of the glider
- Glide through the tunnel to the updraft and turn right
- Go right again, hit the first updraft and then immediately turn around
- Glide all the way to the far cliff to spot a ledge, this is the puzzle location
First, make sure your N’Erud roll contains the World Crystal from Waylaid Conservatory. Then, appear here and move ahead in the direction of the Gardener NPC. Once you reach them, grab the glider. After that, dive into the tunnel directly beneath you and continue moving forward to find the updraft at the end.
When you encounter the rising wind current, veer right and you’ll find yourself facing a vast open space that lies ahead. To your left is the ledge you aim to get to, but you’ll require the air vent on your right for access. After turning right and catching the updraft, swiftly perform a 180-degree turn and proceed in the opposite direction.
Once you make it to the ledge, all you need to do now is solve the puzzle.
How to solve the Withered Necropolis symbol puzzle
The riddle of the Decaying Graveyard, symbolically speaking, is a challenge that revolves around time. The upper row of symbols undergoes a transformation every 60 minutes. Your objective is to adjust the lower symbols to mirror what the upper row will appear like one hour from now in the future. In other words, if you observe the current symbols on top, those would be the symbols you should have set if you had encountered the puzzle an hour beforehand.
Here’s my take on paraphrasing it from a fan’s perspective: “To crack this puzzle, jot down the symbols I see today, then remember to log in tomorrow an hour earlier than usual, say at 9:00 a.m., and feed those saved symbols into the game.
As an option, you can manually adjust the clock on your computer or gaming device. For instance, navigate to the riddle at 10:00 a.m., jot down the symbols, subsequently alter the time to 9:00 a.m. and enter the recorded symbols. You might need to visit Sector 13 and return to the riddle to refresh or reset the world’s state.
This process can be a bit finicky, so you may need to flip the time of your console or PC back and forth to get it right. But once the puzzle is solved, press the “Open” button and you can go pick up the Genesis bow.
Genesis bow stats
The Genesis bow, a long-range weapon, inflicts 75 points of damage per shot, has a rate of fire (RPS) of five, and carries one bullet in its magazine at a time. However, by holding down the shoot button, you can charge the bow, accumulating up to five shots ready for release simultaneously. This weapon also includes the Mega Drive bonus, which grants additional benefits as follows:
- Activate while a valid target is in-sights, marking it with quantum Entanglement. All Genesis projectiles seek to the Entanglement target after initial impact, dealing 50% of Primary Fire damage. While active, reactivating can switch Entanglement target. Lasts 15s. Mod Power Requirement: 1,250.
Essentially, you can use this skill on the same adversary, allowing for extra attacks without spending resources. Additionally, it’s beneficial to apply it to a lesser opponent while you engage your main target.
