As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for DC Universe lore, I must admit that the casting of Alan Tudyk as another character in the upcoming Superman movie has me positively thrilled! With his impressive resume spanning both live-action and animated roles, it’s no surprise that Tudyk is now set to play not one, but two characters within the DCU.
It appears that Alan Tudyk is rumored to take on a new character within the DC universe for James Gunn’s eagerly awaited Superman film, with David Corenswet cast as the title character.
Although the details of the role have been kept secret, Tudyk recently gave a sneak peek at who his character in the movie might be. Apart from his role in Superman, Tudyk is also a part of the animated series Creature Commandos, which is canon in the new DC universe.
Alan Tudyk to play a secret role in 2025’s Superman movie
As per a report from Deadline, actor Alan Tudyk is set to feature in the 2025 film titled Superman. At this point, DC hasn’t disclosed which character Tudyk will be portraying.
Actor Alan Tudyk has agreed to play Doctor Phosphorous in the upcoming animated series Creature Commandos. It’s uncertain at this time if he will reprise that character in Superman. Additionally, Tudyk voices Clayface in Harley Quinn, an animated series streaming on Max. The launch of Creature Commandos marks the beginning of the new DC universe, Gods and Monsters.
In a post on Threads, Tudyk revealed that he will be starring as Jimmy Olson’s French photographer friend, Bertrand ‘Bertie’ Muegler, who is known for his risqué avant-garde photography. Interestingly enough, he wears a cape, but he isn’t playing a superhero; instead, he’s more of a fashion enthusiast with a penchant for stylish clothing.
In the DC Universe (DCU), Alan Tudyk has become the second actor to take on both a live-action and animated role. Previously, Frank Grillo was announced to play the character of Rick Flag Sr., who is currently voiced in the animated series Creature Commandos. Interestingly, Grillo will also portray this character in upcoming live-action projects, including Season 2 of Peacemaker and Superman. In short, Grillo will star as Rick Flag Sr. in both animation and live action.
