Born in Connecticut, Lowe studied at Greenwich High School and later attended Dartmouth College, graduating in 1999. After working as a teacher at Cresskill High School in New Jersey, he pursued a Master’s in U.S. history at the College of William & Mary. Additionally, he obtained an M.S. degree in journalism from Columbia University’s School of Journalism.

Initially, Lowe kicked off his professional journey as a reporter covering crime, government, and courts for the Stamford Advocate, based in Connecticut. Later on, he became associated with The American Lawyer, a monthly legal periodical managed by ALM Media. Additionally, he contributed part-time to CelticsHub.Com.

Prior to joining Grantland’s team as an NBA analyst in 2012, after spending time at Sports Illustrated, Lowe found himself with ESPN. This transition occurred when ESPN took over his contract following the closure of Grantland in 2015. Despite Bleacher Report attempting to recruit him in 2016 with an aggressive approach, Lowe has remained with the network. Currently, he is the host of a podcast titled The Lowe Post.

The Athletic reports both Lowe and ESPN have declined to comment on the firing.
