As a die-hard wrestling fan who has been following the industry since the Attitude Era, I must say that MVP’s debut on AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam was nothing short of electrifying! After years of watching him shine in WWE, it’s thrilling to see him make a splash in another promotion.
Previously with WWE, MVP (formerly known as a WWE Superstar) made an eagerly awaited appearance on AEW Dynamite following his departure from the promotion when his contract ended in August. Simultaneously departing was his fellow The Hurt Business member, Bobby Lashley.
Last month, both stars parted ways with WWE without coming to terms on contract renewals. Following their exit, rumors emerged suggesting that Lashley, MVP, and Shelton Benjamin were planning to revive The Hurt Business in AEW.
There was much anticipation among fans that the revitalized Hurt Business could create a stir at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam. Yet, the unique edition of the event featured an unexpected debut by MVP. Throughout the broadcast, MVP had an unexpected one-on-one encounter with Prince Nana, which left many viewers surprised.
At the Dynamite: Grand Slam event, Tony Schiavone interviewed Prince Nana on the ramp regarding Swerve Strickland’s condition. Nana shared that Strickland wasn’t yet medically permitted to compete but was making efforts towards his comeback. Unexpectedly, a former WWE star, MVP, interrupted the conversation.
As I was just getting into Swerve Strickland’s scene, an unexpected appearance and proposal from MVP left me thrilled!

In simpler terms, the MVP criticized Nana for not doing a good job as Strickland’s manager because he thought Nana was too focused on dancing. He then gave Nana a business card and encouraged him to give it to Strickland, hinting that they could discuss business matters when Strickland was ready.
During MVP’s initial performance, some spectators suspected the presence of Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin by his side. As this was happening, whispers about his AEW standing started to surface after his debut.
MVP has reportedly signed with AEW
After an astonishing first appearance by MVP at the unique edition of AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam, recent news suggests that he has officially joined forces with AEW. It appears that the agreement between them was finalized approximately a month prior.
It’s been verified by PWInsider that MVP recently sealed a contract with AEW, approximately a month ago.

As MVP enters the scene for his much-awaited premiere, it’s intriguing to speculate when Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin, other members of The Hurt Business, will join this promotion. There have been whispers for a few weeks now that AEW might be negotiating with both Lashley and Benjamin. It remains exciting to consider the strategies that the promotion may have in store for the former WWE star, MVP, and Swerve Strickland.
