‘How are you getting these scripts…’: Karthi reveals Suriya’s reaction to his lead role in Meiyazhagan

As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for cinema and a rich history of following Tamil films, I must say that the upcoming comedy-drama Meiyazhagan, starring Karthi and Arvind Swami, is certainly piquing my interest. The film’s unique premise of long-lost cousin brothers reconciling and their bromance journey sounds both heartwarming and intriguing.

On September 27, 2024, Karthi and Arvind Swami will debut their upcoming comedy-drama film, titled Meiyazhagan, in cinemas. This movie, helmed by director Prem Kumar, who gained fame with the film 96, is being produced by Suriya and Jyothika under their production house, 2D Entertainments.

In a chat with YouWe Media, I shared that Suriya was thoroughly delighted by our movie’s final cut. Intrigued by the quality of the script, he inquired about my sources. Additionally, he reached out personally to the director for a heartfelt conversation post-screening.

Director Prem Kumar shared additional insights into their discussion, expressing that initially, the person thanked him for creating the film. After viewing it, he felt as though there was a stone lodged in his throat, making it difficult to swallow – a sensation that resonated with him.

In addition to this, the director mentioned that Suriya had the same desire to embrace Karthi as he did after Karthi’s first film Paruthiveeran. The upcoming movie Meiyazhagan, directed by C Prem Kumar, is a blend of comedy and drama, narrating the story of two estranged cousin brothers who eventually reunite.

The movie chronicles Arul’s journey, a man who parted ways with his family by selling their ancestral property in 1996 and maintaining contact only with his uncle. After a long period, this individual decides to revisit his childhood town for his cousin’s wedding, where he encounters his own cousin for the first time in years.

Although neither of them could recall spending time together in the past, they manage to reconcile, reminiscing about old times. Arul appears moody and distressed, while the other character presents an unexpectedly cheerful demeanor. The film then delves into their unlikely friendship, exploring how it shapes and alters their lives.

In addition to its main stars, the movie features a talented group of actors including Rajkiran, Sri Divya, Swathi Konde, Devadarshini, Jayaprakash, Sriranjani, Ilavarasu, Karunakaran, and numerous others in significant roles.

Moving onto Suriya’s upcoming projects, he will soon star in the highly anticipated fantasy action movie titled Kanguva, helmed by director Siva. This film is billed as a grand tale, with Suriya portraying two distinct characters across different timeframes.

In the upcoming movie, Bobby Deol and Disha Patani will be making their Tamil film debut as the main characters. Originally planned for release on October 10, 2024, the producers have decided to move the premiere date to November 14 in order to avoid a conflict with Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan.
