Abbott Elementary is a humorous series set in a workplace, written and overseen by Quinta Brunson, who plays the character Janine Teagues. The show’s main cast includes Tyler James Williams as Gregory Eddie, Janelle James as Ava Coleman, Lisa Ann Walter as Melissa Schemmenti, Chris Perfetti as Jacob Hill, William Stanford Davis as Mr. Johnson, and Emmy Award winner Sheryl Lee Ralph as Barbara Howard. In the 2023 Emmy Awards, it was nominated in nine categories, including Outstanding Comedy Series.
In this humorous workplace series, a band of committed, enthusiastic teachers, along with a principal who’s not always in tune with the times, join forces in a Philadelphia public school. Despite facing overwhelming challenges, they are resolute in their mission to empower their students and contribute positively to their lives.
