Assassin’s Creed Shadows Delayed, Ubisoft Issues Statement

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must admit, I was initially disheartened by Ubisoft’s decision to delay Assassin’s Creed Shadows until next year. However, upon reflecting on the debacle that was Star Wars Outlaws, I can understand their cautious approach.

Ubisoft has revealed that they’re pushing back the release of “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” to next year. This decision was made due to valuable insights gained from their work on “Star Wars Outlaws”.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows delayed until early next year

Ubisoft has announced that the release date for Assassin’s Creed Shadows is now set for February 14, 2025. The developer stated that they require additional time to perfect and improve the game. As a result, all preorders will be refunded, and those who preorder in the future will receive the game’s initial expansion at no extra cost.

In their latest financial report for the fiscal year 2024-25, a revised release date for Assassin’s Creed Shadows was announced. This adjustment came about because Star Wars Outlaws didn’t meet the company’s projected performance, which in turn influenced the decision to delay the launch of Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

The action-adventure game ‘Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ is now scheduled for release on February 14, 2025. Although the game has all its features ready, we are giving ourselves extra time to make it even shinier based on what we learned from launching ‘Star Wars Outlaws’. This additional effort aims to ensure that this major installment in our series can live up to its lofty goals and provide an exceptional gaming experience.

According to Ubisoft’s co-founder and CEO Yves Guillemot, our second-quarter results did not meet our goals, so we’re taking decisive action to improve the situation. This will involve placing more emphasis on a player-focused strategy and prioritizing gameplay above all else, while remaining steadfast in our dedication to the long-term success of our brand.

It appears that Ubisoft is moving towards a uniform release strategy instead of staggered ones. Previously, most Ubisoft games offered three versions: Standard, Gold, and Ultimate. The Gold and Ultimate editions usually provided early access to players. However, in response to player feedback, they have decided to launch all games on the same day for everyone.

The update shares that they’re moving away from a typical Season Pass structure. Instead, everyone can play the game simultaneously on Valentine’s Day (February 14). As an added bonus, players who pre-order the game will receive the initial expansion at no extra cost.

Ubisoft CEO addresses backlash amid Assassin’s Creed Shadows delay

Guillemot issued a statement addressing recent criticism towards Ubisoft. While neither Star Wars Outlaws nor Assassin’s Creed Shadows were directly named, both titles have stirred up controversy following their initial announcements. In line with a previous declaration, Guillemot once again emphasized that Ubisoft aims to share its games with the widest range of players possible.

To clear up some divided opinions about Ubisoft recently, Guillemot states, “We’re primarily an entertainment business focused on making video games for a wide range of people. Our intention is not to promote any particular viewpoint; instead, we strive to create games that cater to everyone’s enjoyment.
