As a seasoned gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in virtual worlds, I can confidently say that “The Slowest Burn” by Sarah Chamberlain is not just another book, but an enchanting escape into the realm of culinary romance.

In “The Slowest Burn” by Sarah Chamberlain, the concept that food can express love is deeply embraced.

Upon initially laying eyes on the cover, I instantly fell in love with it. Additionally, learning that it was Sarah Chamberlain’s first book made me all the more thrilled. Seeing new romance novels come out is truly exciting, and as a strong supporter of debut authors, I can’t wait to see what she has in store.

Given my fondness for stories that blend romance with culinary themes, as well as my soft spot for aesthetically pleasing book covers, The Slowest Burn seemed tailor-made for me. And let’s face it, the cover is absolutely stunning!

I’m grateful that St. Martin’s Press provided me with an Advance Reader Copy (ARC), enabling me to delve into it before its release, and now I can express my opinions about it to everyone here.

The Slowest Burn is food for the romance reader’s soul.

As a devoted reader, I can’t wait to dive into “The Slowest Burn,” a captivating tale that centers around me, Ellie – an acclaimed ghostwriter renowned for my collaborations on celebrity cookbooks. My latest assignment? Working alongside Kiernan, a charismatic and fiery chef who has just won a prestigious cooking competition. From the outset, it’s evident that our professional partnership might not be as smooth-sailing as anticipated.

The situation deteriorates from that point, as Kiernan fails to respond to Ellie’s emails but invites her to one of his events instead. This leads to a disagreement between them, leaving them in an uncomfortable predicament. As a result, they are compelled to go to a cabin together to collaborate and sort out the issues with Kiernan’s cookbook.

Indeed, while they’re both high above, a subtle attraction starts to bubble between them, yet they decide to maintain a friendship. However, Kiernan’s need for a date at his parents’ gathering sets their plan ablaze, prompting him to ask Ellie. Their outing turns sour, but they manage to convincingly pretend everything is fine. From then on, the chemistry between them ignites passionately.

It takes some time for their romance to grow, but it’s understandable given Ellie’s circumstances. After losing her husband at a young age, she’s also grappling with his mother’s challenges and isn’t healing from the loss in a healthy manner. Moreover, she’s neglecting her own self-care. Kiernan, too, faces difficulties with his family, as they struggle to understand who he is and what he does for a living.

Despite the weighty subjects tackled within this book, Sarah Chamberlain skillfully intersperses amusing and enjoyable scenes to provide relief. Furthermore, the abundance of tantalizing recipes and kitchen vignettes will leave your taste buds yearning as you read. If food holds a special place in your heart or you’re a culinary enthusiast, The Slowest Burn is sure to captivate you completely.

The Slowest Burn by Sarah Chamberlain is out now where books are sold.
