Sri Ranganayakaswamy Temple: All we know about the place where Aditi and Siddharth got married

Instead of opting for extravagant weddings at foreign destinations like many celebrities, Aditi and Sidharth decided to honor their cultural heritage by getting married at a 400-year-old temple in Wanaparthy. Their choice was not just any traditional South Indian ceremony, but a unique event that holds a special significance.

Four centuries old, this temple carries profound significance in Aditi Rao Hydari’s life as a newlywed. According to Bollywoodshaadies.com, the temple was constructed by the rulers of Wanaparthy Samsthanam during the 18th century. As legend has it, Wanaparthy was a pivotal region governed by the Nizams of Hyderabad.

It’s important to note that Aditi Rao Hydari hails from a royal lineage on both sides of her family. Specifically, she is the great-granddaughter of Muhammad Saleh Akbar Hydari, a former Prime Minister of the Hyderabad province, from her paternal line.

Discussing Aditi’s ties to the location, it’s important to note that her mother, Vidya Rao, is a renowned classical singer and the granddaughter of Raja Janumpally Rameshwar Rao, who was the last recognized king of Wanaparthy. This connection gives Aditi a rich historical and cultural background.

Returning to the temple, it is said that this stunning structure was constructed, mirroring the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple in Srirangam, according to various accounts. Enchanted by its beauty, King Krishnadevaraya resolved to erect an identical sanctuary within his realm. In a sacred vision, he found the statue of Lord Ranganatha nestled between the Kothakota and Kanvayapally mountains. As a consequence, a temple was constructed close to Ratna Pushkarini Lake.

The Sri Ranganayaka Swamy Temple draws in devotees and visitors not just from local regions like Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra, but also from afar, due to its peaceful ambiance and rich historical background. This historic site is particularly renowned as a preferred location for weddings, with around 300 ceremonies taking place annually on its premises, as stated on the temple’s official website.
